Hey guys, I just discovered this wonderful band. They're called the Nee Gees and they play the coolest funk/disco music I've ever heard. They also have some great love ballads.

Does anybody else share my love for this fabulous band?

I can't tell if you are kidding or not, or which parts you are kidding about if you are kidding.

If you mean BeeGees, then yes, they have a lot of great songs. Even a Broadway show now.

No, it's Nee Gees. Not a typo.

    City lights in the morning
    Dim without a warning

That one was a hit, I think.

    Yay, another fan!

I love that song, also "Give Me Your Love, and I'll Give You a Dollar".

    Great stuff.

So is this a band in the Netherlands, Debo?
Google can't find them , and if it doesn't exist on Google - well...

If they are disco, then you should listen to the original disco BeeGees who recently had a hit called "Alone".

One of the sites that had the words nee gees on them said a-nee-gee-la-hee is a cherokee word for: something that grows from the back of the neck - or - Woman Warrior Society, & Long Hair Clan ;)

I think it is a typo. The correct spelling is the Knee Gees.

It's not a Dutch band; Australian, I think.

    Nothing on google?!

I guess they're more obscure than I thought! I have seen some fans spell it "Knee Gees", but I do believe the correct spelling is "Nee Gees".

Come on, they did the song "Alone Again in Stereo". Surely you've heard that one!

No, I think that one's called "Dawn's Departure". Another classic.

Have you ever seen their stage show? Amazing.

Yes! And the laser light show that features the historical reenactment of The Donner Party's final hours in 43 shades of green?!

    Genius.

They toured here in NZ a year ago. Fabulous show.

I love what they do with that theramin.

The highlight was of course an extended version of "Nee Gee Boogie".

    YeeeeHaaaaaar!

Oh man, you saw them?! I'm so jealous! I've never actually seen them in person, only the bootleg videos that I got from my cousin. Did they play "Clementine Jive"?

    No. That was a bit of a sore point. The crowd were yelling for it all night, then finally they played the first 2 bars;

    dum-dididi-do-DO-do-DO-dooooow
    didididi-iddle-iddle-iddle-pum-pum

The crowd went wild. Then they gave us the fingers and played that old b-side "Inside Up" instead.

    Grrrrrrr.

Aww, that's a bummer. Still I understand, they probably want to be defined by their new stuff, which I actually find to be a bit more thought-provoking... songs like "Chelsea's Sanitarium" and "War Might Be the Answer, but What Was the Question?".

They still put on an amazing show though right?

Oh, of course. They ROCK! The lasers were amazing. I don't know how they got that VW Combi on stage either, but it was SWEEEET...

I was sad that Bob "The Robert" Richards passed away, obviously - but the new drummer is pretty solid. No complaints there. I'm just glad they didn't break up.

Yeah, I have to admit I was a bit skeptical. The Robert's amazing African rhythms were always so essential to the band. He was even better than their original drummer Chi Chi Salvadore. But I'm glad to hear the new guy is working out, it'll be interesting to see how their sound evolves when their next studio album comes out this summer.

Weren't they the band that wrote, "Nee Highs?"

    Good times.
