According to this site, it costs $260 a week to run the average family car.

Taking into account the fact that they aren't talking about running the car constantly for that week versus the fact that they are also taking into account wear and tear on the vehicle (plus other variables such as maintenance on the aircraft, salaries for the cabin crew and pilots) I'll just leave that ammount at $260 just to illustrate my point.

$260 a week times 52 weeks in a year: $13,520

Times 10 years: $135,200

That amount times the 10,000 cars in your statistic: $1,352,000,000.

I know what you're thinking, "I could almost buy my own plane for that!" But who would fly it, you?

I'm not going to disagree that it's bad for the environment, but given the fact that your average airline ticket doesn't cost the same amount as a small island, I'm going to have to call shenannigans on your statistic there.

Besides, I'd just like to point out this thread has been created and responded to on computers made from imported parts made from raw materials that have been strip mined from natural habitats of endangered species.

 

I was only talking about the pollution, really.
And me working in a service station can see the costs, which, for a family sedan, for one week, is about $100. With variable situations, of course.
But, it's the same amount of polltion.
Also, in my post, I didn't mention anything about money, I am quite sure of it.
And, if that was the actual cost, then I guess no one would be flying
But it's not, unfortunately, or fortunately, I'm not sure which.
