I guess I take the cake for the most bizar story:

    I can't remember it!

Looking back now, it feels like something that "I've always known". I remember a time when Darth Vader was not Luke's father, and I remember the first time I saw ESB, but I just can't remember the revelation...

Maybe it's because it was overshadowed by an even bigger revelation:

The revelation that there was another Star Wars movie! When I first saw ESB, I was expecting to see "Star Wars" again. You can imagine my surprise. I even remember feeling slightly disappointed... for about 0.5 seconds. the rest of the experience is a blissful black hole. (in case you're wondering how I could have missed it: it was a bootleg)

    How was your first time?

Same for me. I was totally shocked and refused to believe it. I wouldn't believe it until Obi-Wan admitted it to Luke in ROTJ.

I was ten years old when I saw ESB in a theater, and I remember when that line was spoken I felt like a giant hand grabbed me! I was pretty much in denial until Yoda said "Your father he is" in ROTJ. There was a clue in ANH,when Aunt Beru said "Luke's just not a farmer,Owen. He has too much of his father in him." And Uncle Owen replied "That's what I'm afraid of."

I too assumed he was bluffing. Refused to believe it was true.

I'm among the unfortunate people who "always knew".

May be in part due to Vader's death being my very first Star Wars memory.

    Aw, that's cute, Twilek.

I'd still like to know how you experienced the revelation?

Well, if I always knew, there was nothing to 'reveal'.
I actually don't have many memories of first/ early reactions to any scenes.
I just 'knew' Star Wars and admired everything more and more.
Kinda boring, if I think about it :(

I am exactly like Plo_Koen, I never remember learning Vader was Luke's father. I just sort of always knew...I don't remember seeing that scene for the first time :(

I also am one of the ones who always knew.

So when it was revealed it was more like meh.

It is all in pop-culture so it is hard for younger audiences to dodge.

I have no memory of the revelation. Somehow, I've always known...

Oh, wait, now I remember! [face_frustrated]

It was spoiled when somebody told me lil' Ani was Darth Vader!

Good to hear I'm not the only one... I wouldn't wanna trade my experience for the revelation, though.

    "I've always known"

For some reason, i too, remember my first Star Wars viewing to be Vaders redemption/death. So i've always known he was Lukes father, i still remember being shocked though when i saw ESB - that's some powerfull stuff in that scene.

    i couldn't believe it...i thought it was a lie...
even with the "ben why didn't you tell me" revelations Luke had on the falcon...
Until Yoda uttered the words.." your father he is" i suppose was the clincher

My older sister, who got me hooked on star wars, told me everything! So the I am your father part didn't surprise me in the way most peeps probably were, but it did shock me because firstly, VADER'S PURE EVIL and Luke's pure good... I didn't want to believe that they could be father and son, and even went into RotJ hoping that Vader was lying, which oddly enough luke was too. :D But he was his father and seeing them go at it like animals in the end brought a tear to my eye... families shouldn't fight...

Then luke's father (Who actually looks like a dad, not some kid) saves him and he is granted eternal life. And all live happily ever after...

By the time I was old enough to watch and understand Star Wars it was common knowledge, so no surprise for me. I think I remember being surprised when I learned that Luke and Leia were twins, but I can't remember clearly...

I can't remember when i first saw it. I loved star wars as a 6-7 year old but I got out of it until about 3 years ago. I had forgotten some moments but I still remembered Vader's Relavation

I have some really old video tapes back from like 1991 when I was a toddler, and I watched ROTJ first, then ANH, then ESB.

I had known about the revelation and had not given it much thought or feeling.

well, I first saw it when I was like, seven, and I was intrigued with the fact that Luke's dad was Vader...I don't remember it "shocking" me, but I remember asking my dad, "How can that be?" Of course, dad was too glued to the TV to answer..LOL
