I can't sleep

So here I sit at 3:30 in the morning wide bloody awake. This rarely happens to me. I've laid in bed since 2:00am and can't seem to get back to sleep.

*sigh*

 

Gosh Kate. I hope you got to bed not long after you made your thread.

When you were up at 3:30, it was 6:30 over here. Almost time for me to wake up.


I'm sorry to hear about your insomnia, and I hope you got the rest you needed.

 

Now this is just really weird. I was awake until around 3:30 AM myself. I read myself to sleep. There's nothing like the texts of Homer (namely the Odyssey) to put you down.

Maybe it was the pepporoni pizza that kept us up? But it was probably the cola I had at 10 PM. I don't usually drink much caffeine.

 

That sucks, Kate...


I may be a night owl, but I can't stand it when I can't get to sleep...

 

I finally got back to bed about 6:00am. On the bright side, I got a few more levels of Splinter Cell down.

 

Good deal...

 

I went to bed at 11:30 last night. I think that's the earliest I've gone to bed in a dog's age.

 

Seven years?

 

6 am? Kate, when you were going to bed, I was already at McDonald's having breakfast!

 

Yummy. Of course, isn't 6am my time like 9am your time?

 

Ehh, more like 7 months.

And pulling all-nighters are fun.

 

Fun as in "I'm so exhausted right now I can barely type?"

 

When I was younger I could pull all-nighters no problem. I remember in my first year of college just about every one of my papers was typed at 5 am the morning before it was due, with a substantial buzz. But now, if I tried something like that I would be damaged for weeks.

 

Oh definitely. When I would work on shows in college, I could stay up all night rehearsing or building sets, get 4 hours of sleep and be ready to go.

Now, however, I had to stop in at my hubby's work and I've got a lovely headache, my eyes hurt and my body aches. I just want to go back to bed.

Old age. Bah.

 

I think I get more sleep with afternoon naps than I do at night.

 

How is it that I'm the elderly one around here and you're the one taking naps Jason?

 

I have a bad habit of staying up all night and sleeping all day.

At least I'm not narcoleptic.

 

Jason, perhaps it's the afternoon nap that's keeping you from getting sleep at night. I find that no matter how tired I am, I shouldn't take a nap, because they screw with my sleep at night.

As for getting no sleep, I've totally been there. This April Fool's day I got absolutely nothing all night just because my mind wouldn't shut off. Silly joke plotting!

Since I didn't take a nap and I was up for 48 hours, I managed to get great sleep the next night.

I don't know how you guys do it. I just don't function well without sleep. In five years of college I pulled a total of one all nighter. Stupid professor didn't even count the project towards our final grade.

Yes, if I were I dinosaur, I'd be "Sleeposaurus Rex".

I think though, as you get older, you don't sleep as much. I could sleep 9-10 hours at a time when I was a teenager, now I get about 8 hours max.

 

I never used to take naps either. Now I have a hard time making it through any afternoon without dozing off for at least a half hour. I really am getting old.

I've never pulled an all-nighter, save that one night when I couldn't sleep. I am an efficient machine, and I don't procrastinate.

The latest I was ever up finishing a project? Probably about 5:30am with a class at 10am. Eh, I still got sleep.
