I looked through to page 10 or 15 and couldn't find a thread for this game, so I decided to make one myself.

    Story

Since times long forgotten, a forbidden scepter had lain sealed away in Trodain castle. Until one day, a mysterious jester called Dhoulmagus disturbed its rest and freed the scepter from its ancient bonds.

Using the scepter's power, Dhoulmagus placed a spiteful curse upon the whole kingdom. In the space of a moment, the people were transformed into thorns and the land was frozen in time. To add insult to injury, the King and the Princess were turned into a toad-like monster and horse!

However, the curse left one person untouched...a young guardsman...You! Now you must embark on an epic journey to save your king and country and lift the shadow of the evil jester's curse!

    Characters

The Hero: Was once one of the King's guards who served in Castle Trodain. That was until the day the curse unleashed by the evil Dhoulmagus froze the Kingdom and turned his master, King Trode, into a hideous monster. He was the only one who survived the tragedy, and so it is up to him to track down Dhoulmagus and find a way to save his beloved King and fellow countrymen.

Yangus, The Reformed Bandit: Yangus's craggy face and rough attitude make it obvious that he was once a bandit just as much as the scars all over his body do. However, due to unexpected circumstances, he ends up joining The Hero as a traveling companion. What could Hero have done to encourage him to reform his life so much? And why does he respectfully call Hero "guv" all the time?

Jessica, The Fledgling Mage: Despite her casual dress and her inquisitive expressions, Jessica is actually the daughter of a famous family of rural aristocrats. Hidden away within her are the seeds of powerful magic, so she currently studies magic in the hopes of unlocking that power. Jessica is also trying to hunt down Dhoulmagus, and this is why she eventually joins up with The Hero and Yangus. What happened between her and Dhoulmagus to make her want to leave such a comfortable life behind?

Angelo, The Rogue Knight: Angelo, a Templar who serves to protect Maella Abbey, is gifted with good looks and charm, as well as the most extraordinary silver hair. But his womanizing and gambling ways are a pain to those around him. When something occurs at Maella Abbey, Angelo is assigned to the party both to find Dhoulmagus and to get him out of the other Templars' hair.

I received this game for Christmas and I've enjoyed it immensely. The story is fairly linear, but there is so much to do, to see. The monsters are all so great and unique that the random battles, which occur quite frequently on the world map and in dungeons, are never tiring to get into. The exploration is a great part of this game. I can't express the joy of getting lost and being able to fight my way back to the path and able to heal up.

For old school RPG fans, this is a great game. I've loved all 40+ hours I've poured into this game so far.

So, anywone else have this game? What are your thoughts on it? Like it, dislike it? Why or Why not? This thread is about discussing this great RPG.

i honestly gave this game some serious thought when it first came out, but i was playing morrowind at the time. now, i remember hearing about this game coming out for the last couple of years, so it's pretty cool now that it finally did. i appreciate how this game has the old-school feel working for it. because i used to be an rpg nut, but so many of the recent ones have been terribly dissapointing. i got star ocean and that one old-school-lookin' game they made for gamecube awhile ago... tales of symphonia or something. well, i thought that both of them sucked hardcore, so i traded them in for GTA, which was the hot ticket at that time. basically all of the RPGs coming out lately fall short of something. so i think i might still pick this up, for it does have an original look to it, or at least an original concept.

    good lookin' out, bart.
