Specifically, I?m interested in space flight / sim strategy type games.

Hmmm. Even though it's a little older, X-Wing: Alliance is one of the best space sims I've ever played. TIE Fighter being the other.

For newer games that aren't space sim (since I don't play space sim games outside of the Star Wars universe, and they don't make them anymore), Warcraft 3 is a great game.

Freespace 2. Definitely the best space sim out there.

X-Wing vs TIE Fighter (plus the expantion: Balance of Power), although old is a cool simmulator IMO. :)

I second Freespace 2. Awesome, awesome game.

If you're looking for SW action besides the X-Wing games... Rogue Squadron's good and you can get it at Wal*Mart for 10 bucks. :D

What about Hegemonia? Anybody have that game or played it? I saw some pretty breathtaking screens for that one (I can post a link if you want) but I don't know how it would compare to other space battle games. I think it's called an RTS, but isn't that different from games like Rogue Leader?

Freespace 2. Definitely the best space sim out there.

I have to disagree. Independence War 2 is a lot better.

And if you want to captain bigger ships, then you just have to try Star Trek Bridge Commander. I just wish someone would make a SW game like that.

Well, here's the Hegemonia link: (HEGEMONIA LINK) - maybe you can take a look and tell me how you think it might compare to other games of it's type if you know about RTS games. It looks pretty good to me. Ideally, someone here has already played it and can tell me what you thought.
