The Anakin dream and the Padme Gunship fall.

I see nothing wrong with these scenes.

The Anakin dream sequence makes me think nothing more than a dream is going on.People say it should have been left out,we understood he was having bad dreams, but in TPM Lucas did the "tell, not show" thing in TPM with the suffering of the people of Naboo. The scene is fine!Buncha pervs!

Padme falling out of the gunship is fine too.She did'nt fall that far.It just knocked the wind out of her.

The first time I saw this movie I was waiting to laugh at these two scnes based on what posters here had to say.

There was nothing to laugh at.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the dream scene. If you listen carefully, Anakin yells out, "Mom," so I don't know what you guys were thinking. The gunship fall scene was mildly amusing because Padme just got up right away like she had super powers and she ran off funny too.

I must agree and disagree. First of all I did not think anything more of the Anakin nightmare sequence than just that: he was having a nightmare.

But the Padme fall from the cruiser... it would have been better if the shot had been different. Instead of a wide shot where you see Portman say, "yes I'm fine" and pop right up... if the camera had focused on her face or upper half of her body ... I don't think it would have looked as goofy. This scene also makes the case for real Clonetroopers. If the Clonetrooper had been real they could have had him help her up instead of just standing there asking if she was ok or not.

As that scene stands, Padme must be related to Wonder Woman. Plus, when she goes running off she does look a little goofy. ;)

Actually, I really don't have a problem with either scene but I can see where people are coming from about the Padme Crusier Fall. Then again, showing Hayden's chest was obviously thrown in there for the Lady's just as much as Padme's midriff was thrown in there for the guys. I could have done without either of them. (Yes I just said that)

Grr! I still find nothing wrong with the Padme fall! She didn't get up like she had superpowers!

And yes, I am a perv, cuz I had to supress a laugh at the anakin dream...

Then why didn't he help Padme up? :p

Well, I think we all know why people laughed at the nightmare sequence. I mean, come on. The previous scene had the guy being rebuffed by the girl, then he's in bed alone moaning...This was not Hayden's most shining moment in the movie.

...I wish somebody had spoken up in the editing room.

And Padme falling was fine. Her getting up wasn't. She shouldn't have popped up like she had been napping. And I didn't realize the CloneTroopers in that scene were CGI (good effect, bad call), but it would have helped if they escorted her up.

This felt like something that was part of the reshoots. Its only purpose is to bridge Padme falling to Padme arriving at Dooku's palace. Unfortunately, the unintentional humor became another lightning rod for people waiting to hate CLONES. Lucas needs to stop giving these people such obvious ammo.

Some things to remember about the Padme falling scene. One, she fell onto sand, not the hardest substance, won't do much damage to a person. Two, they were in the middle of a battle, when the Clonetrooper asks if she's okay, what else is she going to say? "Well, I'm all bruised, and I hurt now. I have to sit down, I can't fight anymore." Then break down and start crying? No.

That's true. Maybe Jango's bad etiquette didn't get completely washed out in the cloning process.

I just didn't understand that one second she's laying there moaning and writhing in pain...and then she's just like "yes" and gets up instantly.
I think most people found it humorous. The theater broke out in laughter the first time I saw AOTC.

I agree on both scenes. Although the Anakin dream may have been a little suggestive, I thought it was fine. And I never saw anything wrong with the "Padme Fall" scene. And actually, my Mother was one here awhile ago and the fourth time she saw AOTC she chuckled at that scene. Damn you fanboys, you've corrupted her!

It only took her a second to realize she was OK. It was quite a jolt falling out of the ship. And she WAS unconscious. But once she woke up, she was fine.

    She's a little trooper, is what she is. 8-}

When I watch the padme scene I always think/imagine that when she's down she's faking/feeling-sorry-for-herself and she's embarassed that the clone trooper saw her (she thought she was alone). And that's why she starts yelling at him right away. It's even funnier this way (to me).

In my mind there's always alot more going on in these movies than is shown on screen. I can't help it, the supporting cast is just so damned under-developed.

I didn't think much of the Dream scene, but their were some laughs from the audience, I think that was partly due to the movement of his chest...

As for that fall... I didn't even notice anything was wrong, I think people blow that out too much.

Oh come on Bresson, :p The idea that anyone would think that GL would put something like that in his films... it is as bad as the racism charges almost. Then again, Hayden's exposed chest, as I said before, was thrown in for the Ladies and, quite frankly I didn't expect GL to debase SW like that. Still, GL wouldn't go as far to suggest what you are suggesting I think.

I think Anakin nightmare scene is supposed to be suggestive in my opinion. I read that they (Lucas and company) were aware of how it looked. I believe it too because they could have very easily had Hayden put his arms on top of the sheets, instead of under. The scene makes Anakin appear disturbed because it "appears" as though he might be doing a certain something, and then he calls out "mom!" ya know? I think it's a pretty awesome scene for that very reason in my opinion.

"Some things to remember about the Padme falling scene. One, she fell onto sand, not the hardest substance"

It is when you fall out of a plane at high speed onto it. It compacts and has nearly the same density as concrete. And she is going to hit especially hard falling out of a star cruiser going at God knows what speed.

Her getting up and being magically better was just silly. There is no defending that. It was badly shot and acted.

Brodie..it was no more then 10 feet above the sand..and she fell onto a slope which she rolled on to reduce the speed...It actually makes sense how she got up regularly....falling onto a sandy slope is not very painful at all...

    Lord Gretzky,

I had never heard that the nightmare scene played as it did intentionally. Why would they do that? It's soooo out of whack with the entire tone of the movie. Is the pot that good up north?

    Luke Clone,

Of course nobody thinks Lucas put that in his movie, but that's what makes it laughable. That's how it plays, and the three times I've seen the movie its gotten the same derisive laughter, so it's not just me. As also evidenced by the fact that we're even discussing it.

No. Going at the speed the Cruiser seemed to be boing (darn fast) she would of hit that slope hard and fast. I'm suprised she could even get up, let alone say it in a I'm-barely-injured tone. The scene was unbelievable, no amount of excuse making can cover that.

A good point yes, but then again we do discuss some rather odd things in this forum that most movie goers would not even think of bothering with. Example: Blue Yoda Society Thread ;)

In my AOTC movie going experience, I heard some laughs at the 12:01 show on the 16th of May, but the other 6 times... nothing.

The dream thing is sort of melodramatic, and I would have liked a previous dream scene because as it is it kind of comes out of nowhere. I was fine with it though.

For all the people who are reading things into the scene and giggling about it, I have one quote from Qui-Gon Jinn: "Remember, your focus determines your reality."

I thought the Padme plummet scene was fine. What really got to me was the clonetrooper, who so obviously resembles a stormtrooper, being so nice and helpful it really weirded me out and it was cool.

I love the whole thing about the clones being "good guys;" it lent complexity to the story.
