I Have A Few Questions...

1 Why do you have to be atleast thirteen to be on these boards?
2 Are there any exceptions?
3 What consequenses lie if you do aren't atleast thirteen?

I've been wondering because I heard some people here are under thirteen.

 

The main reason if I recall correctly, is that since this site is based in the USA, it has to follow the laws of the US government and one of the laws is that you must be at least 13 years of age to post on a message board. It is that way on this site, the Official Site, and a few others that I have visited. As to why this law exsists, I have no idea.

Exceptions: I really doubt it.

Consequenses: I'm not completely sure about this site, but at others you are banned until you are 13.

 

Oh... On another site, they said that its so no one gets info out of kids, but educated kids dont do anything for the info stuff.

Pretty much what Gangrenous said. I don't know what exactly the Federal Trade Commission's Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 says, but pretty much anyone below 13 years of age isn't allowed here.

2 Are there any exceptions?

I don't think so. I remember there being talk about if someone under the age of thirteen had permission from a parent, but since there's no real way of knowing if it's actually a parent saying that it's okay for the user to post here or if its just the user itself: No.

3 What consequenses lie if you do aren't atleast thirteen?

They will be banned until they come of age. If you suspect someone is under 13 years of age, then you should Private Message a moderator.
