If I understand your question correctly, it sounds like you're looking for more stuff in the time period between episode 6 and 7. I would recommend checking out Lost Stars and Shattered Empire.

Smugglers Run, Weapon of a Jedi and Moving Target are all worth reading but they only have mere snippets, at best, in relation to TFA. The bulk of their stories are in the OT era.

Bloodline is essential reading, as is Aftermath / Life Debt / Empire's End.

As far as we can tell chronology is:

    • A / LD / EE - post-ROTJ
    • Bloodline - 5-6 years before TFA

    That's it!

That webpage is complete crap, you're better off ignoring it and following the advice you can get here.

    Stories between ROTJ and TFA:

    Books:
    • Aftermath
    • Life Debt
    • Empire's End
    • Lost Stars (only in part)
    • Bloodline
    • Before the Awakening
    Comics:
    • Shattered Empire
    • Poe Dameron

There's a degree of overlap - the last chapter or so of Lost Stars is during and after Aftermath, but most of the book is set before it.

Shattered Empire is the earliest set of the post-ROTJ stories - covers the first few days post-ROTJ - so being before most of Aftermath.

I'd probably go with (for chronological order) - Lost Stars, (till the moment ROTJ is complete) then Shattered Empire comic, then Aftermath, then Life Debt, then Empire's End, then all the rest of Lost Stars.

That would be a "end of the Empire" era.

"Rise of the First Order" era would begin with Bloodline, then Before the Awakening, then the Poe Dameron comic, then The Force Awakened.

No. The in-universe chronology did not follow the real-life sequence of publications (ex: Shadows of the Empire is based several years before Rogue Squadron, but they were both published in the same year).

You're also referring to the "old" continuity of novels, before Disney bought the franchise in 2012 and rehauled everything. So those books you're referring to are not related to the Force Awakens. The novels you'd be looking for are the ones previously mentioned by other posters in this thread.

Yes, it does, since everything is listed chronologically... Unless I haven't understood what you wanted.

Is there anyway to narrow down the books to just the force awakens books

That's because for half of them (the short stories), nobody knows exactly what the order is, yet. I think they've been established to be fairly close to TFA though.

The prologue and epilogue bits of the Journey to TFA books are also difficult to pin down.

However, the "OT era" bits are easier to separate out.

Shattered Empire is after ROTJ but before the Battle of Jakku (which is 1 year after ROTJ).

Lost Stars stretches from 8 years after RoTS to a few days after the Battle of Jakku.
Smuggler's Run takes place right after ANH - evacuation of Yavin is ongoing).
Weapon of A Jedi takes place right after that.
Moving Target takes place right before ROTJ.
