Apparently w00t means Woohoo in "Hackish" language

It also means root, an "hacker slang"

And as last, it means Wonderful Loot, an everquest term...

It's from this sure it's not reliable

I've heard it first came into derivations, the word 'woot', with the peat gatherers in the Netherlands.

Anyone could have told you w00t = woohoo.

Does anyone find themselves actually saying it in real life, like at school or work or something, and then shaking your head at the sheer stupidity of doing so?

I do it on a daily basis . . . maybe I should switch to a Lando-esque "WOOHOO" and freak out everyone in class.

 

I say "woot" all the time in my head, along with other gaming expressions like "teh," "pwned" "omg" and "wt*" (censored for jp's benefit ). But I don't say them out loud.

lol, yes, I have, and it turns out "w00t" comes out rather weak when you say it outloud. Dunno, it doesn't have much punch to it.

Oh, and Jeff, I actually say "pawned" and "owned" on a regular basis in person; they actually sound okay when you say them outloud.

I say w00t in real life, that's because most of my friends are gamers

I only say owned, never pwned, I should change that

I was at a friends house watching him play CS, and one guy on the team was using the voice feature. He actually said 'LOL' into the mic, instead of laughing. I think that's the classification for President of Nerdville.

 

OMG sometimes I'm about to say "lol" out loud, but I catch myself before I do. I've started to say w00t out loud just becuase I can't hold it in. I just say it to myself though, so that no one will hear me.

 

I always say LOL in real life!

But that's because lol is a word in Dutch
