Either that, or she dies off-screen from some kind of wounds. Then we see her funeral on Alderaan in the ending sequence, where Bail will be standing with Leia in his arms.

Also, you are implying that Padme definitely will die, which we do not have proof of...

As of right now there is no proof we'll even see Padme die on-screen.

Whatever her fate, isn't she to survive long enough to encounter her daughter Leia? Or...did Leia never really know her true mother? So...her story to Luke in "Jedi" is pretty much crap? Hah.

 

The proof is on one of the storys between Episode 2 and 3.
