Bonnie and I grew up in the same town. She was a little bit older than I was, but we were in school together for a short while before she went into the stratosphere with her training.
I was in Latin class with a girl who went on to fence in Barcelona '92. She was very nice . . . we're FB friends now.
I used to work a couple houses down from where Kurt Angle lived in Pittsburgh. I would see him in our shop all the time. Really nice guy. Good tipper when he got delivery too.
My brother in law competed in the Commonwealth Games, and was selected for the Olympics (boxing), but got injured and couldn't go. So... no.
I've met two gold medalists, neither of whose names I can recall. One was a high jumper (if that's the actual name of the event). That was at a corporate deal where we were supposed to be inspired to work harder by meeting someone who could jump really high. The other was teaching a wrestling seminar I went to. It was really cool to see someone that good at something in person.
Not sure. he had been on the news, and was spotted by a pair of bouncers at a nightclub who wanted to prove something. One held him down while the other broke his ribs punching him. They got done for assault, but not sure if he fought again, I'll find out.
Yeah during the 2012 Summer Olympics my Uncle and Aunt took my cousin and I to see Wrestling and we saw Jordan Burroughs win a gold medal. Shortly afterwards we got the pleasure of meeting him in person and he was nice enough to take pictures with people and sign tickets.
My dad claims to have gotten into a fight with Carl Lewis sometime in the 80's... I have no idea if that's true.
