Speculation I want Grand Admiral Thrawn in Episode VII

He doesn't even need to follow Zahn's book, he just needs to be in there leading the remnants of the empire.

Here is actor I would pick, Nestor Carbonell.




Heck, put Captain Pellaeon in too Bruce Boxleitner could play him

 

Not happening... we'll just have to wait for the inevitable spin off movie though. Any bets a CGI film or miniseries based on the Zahn trilogy will show up eventually?

 

I can see the character getting adapted in some form, but not for the ST. They could do it to where Thrawn is the leader of the Imperial Remnant 40 years post ROTJ, but I doubt it. I do have a slight feeling that they'll eventually do another trilogy or TV series set during the years shortly after ROTJ. I could see Thrawn being adapted for the screen then.

For a movie I'd pick Jason Isaacs to play Thrawn and Liam Cunningham to play Pallaeon(Ian plays Sir Davos in Game of Thrones if you don't know who the actor is)

As much as I like the Richard Alpert character from 'LOST', the character of Thrawn, and the idea of Carbonell playing Thrawn, I think the Sequel Trilogy will be set after Thrawns' death. Maybe he can play another character in the ST though.

I am 100% for using Thrawn but not adapting the trilogy.

 

Daniel Day Lewis is the best option. He will own that role and bring amazing screen presence.

I'd love to see Thrawn but I am preparing myself for episode VII to be around when the Solo twins are in their teens. I am ok with either scenario

I have no problems with Disney/LFL picking and choosing what they will and will not use from the EU so long as it serves the ST.

As for Nestor -- LOST alum, who I really like -- to paraphrase Leia, "Aren't you a little short to be a Grand Admiral?"

He's really short and wouldn't make a very imposing GA IMO.

 

I'd love to see him as the main bad guy but I'm not holding my breathe.

 

Yeah, I kinda doubt we're going to get much by the way of Game of Thrawns.

How can you talk of Thrawn and not talk of Michael Fassbender in that role? He would easily own it! Plus we've already seen him put a smile on Palpy's face

 

I might get bashed over this, but I re-read the Thrawn trilogy earlier this year and frankly, I found it very overrated and boring this time around. I don't get all the love those books get but that's just me.

It's not going to happen. I love Zahn as much as anybody, and especially Thrawn as a villain. But they aren't going to simply adopt an EU villain who already has a great story. Why would they? I would love to see some kind of animated adaptation of the Thrawn series at some point, something to fill in the gap between the OT and ST, but there is no need to reuse his character. Thrawn has his story, and it couldn't be much better than it is so don't touch it.
