I think he was referring to that.
Not to toot my own horn too much (well, ok. Maybe just a little )
BUT I'M HOME!!
Just completed my 3rd deployment to Iraq.
Welcome back!! I'm glad you're home safe.
I'm glad my entire platoon is back home safe; we had a few serious injuries, but nobody died*. This one counts as a win.
*Well, besides the guy who set the IED. You can't run from an AC-130.
Must be good to be back home.
3rd deployment... That seems heavy.
So what's up next?
On another note: is there any chance we could get a nicer-looking Senate banner?
Or does everyone like this one?
It is pretty good in my opinion. However, some of the images could be changed to feature more senate like pictures.
What's next? Might try and reenlist to get sent to a unit in Germany. I'm sick of Upstate New York, definitely ready for a change.
And yes, getting used to being home after fourteen months is odd.
Welcome back DarthBoba. Did you meet any Aussie troops over there?
I saw one in Kuwait; Major rank or so. Didn't actually talk to him, though.
Did meet some Royal Marines, though. Cool dudes.
Shameless Plug for a Friend.
A very dear friend of mine is singing live tonight on 98.7 WMFT Chicago at 8pm CST. I think you can stream it here, for those who don't shy away from a little culture.

So, I'm about to head off to meet Espaldapalabras in person and play tour guide for him around DC for the day. This will be only the third person I originally met here that I'll have met in real life. (Naturally, I met my brother in real life first.)
1) Mr44, when I had to go to Chicago for a conference in September 2005. I even got to meet the rarely mentioned but always charming Mrs44.
2) Darth_Doug, who happened to move in down the street from me and I met at Church. It was only after I was invited over to his home and saw his wall of Star Wars memorabilia that we realized that we already knew each other from here. (Sadly, he no longer has time to post here because of the time requirements of three little boys and a wife.)
3) Now, Espaldapalabras. I'm just hoping that he doesn't turn out to be some sort of serial killer/homicidal maniac.
If any of the rest of you are going to be in the DC area, I might even offer to act as your tour guide. I offer reasonable rates and can point you to some of the lesser-known sights to see in the area. If I really like you, I might even be willing to offer you a home-cooked meal.
We want to see photos KK!
Totally want proof.
And I will store this for the next time I'm in DC, I think.
As you wish.
Espaldapalabras came to church with me today, and afterwards hung out at my place playing The Force Unleashed. He also got to handle my infamous AK-47. As you can see, he's quite the gangster.
We were going to try for an "Espalda bin Laden" look instead, but couldn't find any way to make it look right.
You didn't take the gun to church surely?
Ok, good start. Let's have some more. Is there a Mr44 pic floating around somewhere?
Yes it is true, KK was a great tour guide and a pretty good cook. It has been fun so far, but the process to see the Supreme Court in person was a pain but still cool. (BTW KK, we ended up just going to Annapolis and Alexandria).
Happy Thanksgiving for all you folks out there who celebrate it. Hope you all have a few days off work.
Yeah, I did. Didn't leave post once, hardly left my room actually, til sunday, when I went grocery shopping.
Darth Mischevious is very much missiing in action. Anyone heard from him lately? Where is he at?
No idea but this is pretty darn funny.

Merry Christmas everybody!
Merry Christmas everybody,
Not sure what the title of this thread is pertaining to directly, but I came across this article while skimming the net for news.
Is it real(?), is it wishful thinking and just a case of 'beauty in the eye of the beholder'?
It does seem an appropriate news byte for the day;
Is this an angel captured on camera?
In my occupation I deal with individuals in often-times very difficult and catastrophic circumstances, and it is incredible the number of people who've related accounts of the miraculous, encounters with the angelic and so forth...and, I want to believe.
Anyway, it's a feel-good news item for the day.
Happy New Year everyone. I hope 2009 will be a great year for you all.
I too have noticed DM is missing, and it seems his last post was on 10/17 in the dizfactor thread.
