So he was jealous. They?d established that much. But why? That one was harder. He was jealous of Kell, but anyone else? He let his mind wander for a few minutes.

Then it came to him. Tycho. He was also jealous of Tycho. But, again, why? What did Tycho have that he didn?t? They were both great pilots?Rogues, at least at heart. There must be something. . .Friends? No they both had plenty of friends. Money? No, he?d never really wanted to be rich.

Will I wait a lonely lifetime?
If you want me to, I will.

Winter. Tycho had someone who loved him unconditionally, who was there for him. Someone who always loved him. Like Kell did, with Tyria.

He hoped that he would find someone, someday. But it won?t happen. I?m a loner, and I always will be.

For if I ever saw you,
I didn't catch your name.
But it never really mattered.
I will always feel the same.

Well, that wasn?t true. He had met a woman that he really liked. But her husband had just died. It would be absolutely crude to ask her out now. But she was the only person that had ever made him feel the way he did around her. Nervous, and calm at the same time. It was the most annoying sensation.

But he liked her so much. She was beautiful, and smart, and a very nice person. How could he not tell her? When they were in the some room, he had to work hard not to spend the whole time staring at her.

Love you forever and forever.
Love you with all my heart.
Love you whenever we're together,
Love you when we're apart.

He couldn?t tell her, at least not yet, and probably not for a very long time. I?ll try to be happy with just thinking about her. The difficulty was that he?d never know when she was ready to move on, start another relationship.

He would have to wait for her to make the first move. But what if she wasn?t interested in him? He was starting to believe that he wouldn?t be able to live without her.

That would be a problem.

For the things you do endear you to me.

How in the galaxy did I deserve this? A family, and the most beautiful, wonderful woman in the galaxy? It?s almost too much.

He was happy now, no longer jealous of his friends for having someone to love. He had someone of his own. That made all the difference. After long years of hiding his feeling, and poor decisions, he had finally told her that he loved her. To his astonishment, she loved him too!

And he was still happy, in a way that he?d never been before.

Oh, you know I will.

Oh, yes, great songfic, as well! Very nice job capturing Wedge's feelings on being alone. And I seem to recall that he actually did think about being alone in the X-wing series . . . Solo Command, I believe.
