I'm going to see Ian McDiarmid in an adaptation of King Lear in Sheffield on Friday night! A chance to see the guy in his natural habitat is too good a chance to pass up. He's a stage actor really, I think.

Yeah? Well, I saw Westlife in Sheffield on the same night, so.....

It was great. A really good performance of King Lear, and Palpatine to boot. He was sporting a beard, but there were moments it looked like our favourite Chancellor!!

 

Was he wearing a dark hooded robe?

 

No.

 

He probably doesn't want to give the game away too early.

 

Oh by the way. After the performance had finished, I asked about him signing my programme. I was told NO. The only way it would happen was if he came out of the Stage Door, which is a rare occurance. Andway, I waited as long as I could, (45 mins), and he didn't come out. Eventually I was informed that all the cast had now left the building.

 

You should have called for a vote of no confidence.

Ian McD said the same to me when I saw him at the Lowry in Henry IV . He said he would sign any of my theatre memorabilia at the stage door , but NO Star Wars . Me and my mate left our girlfriends in the bar and stayed at the stage door after the performance . After 10 mins , Natalie rang me to say that she was sat on the next table to Ian in the bar . We went inside and he was more than happy to sign my programmes and tickets from The Embalmer (another I McD play) and Henry IV . After he left the bar , he exited the theatre via the main doors . Anyone else going to see Ian McD , look out for this .
