[ICON] Icon Proposal (please vote on the future of sports icons)

A swift decision would be nice, seeing as the finals have /already started/.

I said one week to decide. The Pistons/Lakers icons will be left up until the end of the series and the winner for an extra three days regardless of what happens, regardless of the vote here. I think that it'd be a little cruel to take them away before the end of the series, but if the votes end up being 1/3+1 for no, then no other sports teams will get icons after that.

 

Negative on sports icons.

 

I say YES to the "sports finalists" icons.

Hey, why was the Lightning icon only up for 3 days?? I thought you said "a week afterward"...

Can't you be a bit clever and Star Wars-ise sports icons by sticking lightsabers in in place of baseball bats, death stars in place of basketballs etc, Nunaball players in football strips, podracers in formula 1 colours / patterns...

Show a bit of creativity, and keep everyone happy.

 

And that would be excellent alternative.

I think sports icons should be treated the same way as holiday-themed icons

I forgot to say this in my previous post, but thank you very much for opening this issue to public vote. I'm so glad the administration is open to more input from the regular folks when possible.

That option has been around for a while, though no one seems to have turned it towards sports yet.

Agreed. Temporary measures are exactly that - /temporary measures/. It's not as if we're going to sudenly stop talking SW or the JC is going to implode because some people want to show support for a non-American sports team - hell, it hasn't happened /with/ American sports icons.

 

if it's only two teams at a time just for the finals i don't see why not. it's only for a short time, and it is only two teams.

 

I like JP's idea. Allow Starwars-ized sports icon.

 

I'm against the non-SW icons as well. All my reasons have already been posted so I won't bother repeating.

 

No to any non-SW themed icon.

It seems that SW flavoured sports icons have never been disallowed.
It's just that nobody has ever made them before.
So if that's the path everyone wants to follow.....there's really nothing to change.

 

Wait, where did Night4554 get that "A winner is you" icon?

 

It was a special icon uploaded for the winner of the games forum JA Tourny, in which Night won. So he used the designated icon that was approved for the tourny since he won. It'll be gone shortly.

 

No to all non-SW icons, except for the blank one.

 

An icon was refused for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Sports icons detract from the JC as a place for SW fans. So do all the other, non SW themed icons, unless they are SW-ified, as has been proposed. I'd have no ish with icons that at least kept the theme of the boards.

For what it's worth, I vote no to sports and other, non SW icons.
