Star Wars is known for those iconic moments that you'll remember long after you leave the cinema. All 6 films have a few or a dozen. Here's one from each film even though the ones I list are not the only or most iconic moment of that film I'm simply naming 1 from each film.

TPM- Darth Maul revealing his double blade with duel of fates playing

    ATOC- Yoda uses saber

    ROTS- Obi vs anakin

    ANH- Luke binary Sunset

TESB- Vader is anakin skywalker reveal

    ROTJ- the mask comes off

So even though it has just been released what do you think were the iconic moments in the film if any?

For me it's Rey force grabbing the skywalker saber and Kylo and Hans scene on the bridge.

These are the most defining moments of "The Force Awakens", for the humble Milli Falcon:
    - My pilot Han Solo getting killed by his own (brainwashed) son, of all people!
    - That moment when Kylo Ren activated his cool, three-bladed Lightsaber
    - Rey and Luke meeting each other on that isolated planet, with her handing out Anakin's Lightsaber
    - The appearance of yours truly while Rey and Finn were looking for a spacecraft to escape from Jakku
    - Han Solo and Chewbacca making their long-awaited appearance after they have brought me on board the Eravana

That's a good question. A lot of those old iconic moments have big, "in the foreground" music that helps their impact. To me the TFA score sat more in the background in some of the big scenes, so it's hard to pick out similar moments.

To me, no single scene or image had nearly as much importance as the Luke reveal.

The Luke reveal would definitely be one.

    Han's death.

Almost anything involving Rey amidst the wreckage of the past.

    Rey catching the saber.

There are so many great shots and moments but those are the ones that leap to mind first (with maybe the X-wings screaming in across the Lake to the Resistance theme).

Argh, I forgot all about the Resistance theme... That was definitely one memorable scene too, and what turned the tide in the Resistance's favor, during the attack on Maz Kaneta's castle! :xwing:

I love that shot! Very Apocalypse Now.

I don't mean to get off track, but I love seeing how many scenes from the films mirror each other in weird and wonderful ways!

The x-wings over water - The tie fighters in front of the sun
White guy in black suit - Black guy in white suit
Luke not killing his father - Kylo killing his father

There are so many more - But these are just off the top of my head...

I can imagine that shot being of TIE Fighters fleeing the former Starkiller Base, that exploded into a brand new fiery star...

    Hans death

Luke's reveal with Rey holding out the Saber

Rey pulling the Saber out of the snow

Kylo Ren freezing the blaster bolt with the force

    The Falcons "it's garbage" reveal

    BB-8's lighter thumbs up

    "Chewie we're home"

    "It's true all of it"

Plenty of iconic visuals in there as well.

My mind goes to Kylo when I think most visually striking scenes.

    Kylo alone, speaking to Vader

Kylo vs Rey at the end in the snow. The sabers against the dark backdrop was just gorgeous.

The luke reveal was really nice though. We'd spent the whole movie waiting for it. Not saying anything, made it so much more powerful.

Finn crashing and in the desert was a powerful scene too. Shedding the trooper suit.

Rey with the destroyer in the background was epic.

Hux screaming at the giant amount of troops all looked incred too. I thought it was cool visually, but the symbolism was jarring too. I associated the red flags with the logo and the stark colourless... everything else with the Nazis.

    - Rey sliding down the sand dune
    - BB8's thumbs-up (<3)
    - TIE-fighters in front of the sun
    - Ren watching Starkiller fire from the bridge of the Finalizer
    - The X-Wings crossing the water on Takodana
    - Han's death
    - Rey and Ren locked together during the final lightsaber battle - that one-saber-up-one-saber-down shot which I annoyingly can't find a picture of
    - The aerial shot of Rey meeting Luke

    - Honourable mention: Ren igniting his lightsaber in the trailer, the shot that wasn't used in the final movie.

I still cannot get warm with these 2 scenes and they always took me out of the movie, since I asked how is this possible (we are not in episode IX yet)?

There is still a difference between these things, since Anakin did pod racing before and Luke did shoot womp rats before. o_O

Lots of great scenes and shots and I am glad this was made.

To me, the last sequence with Rey climbing up the steps of Skellig and seeing Luke, followed by her handing out the saber to him is the most iconic scene and may be one of the best shots in cinematic history. We go from something very familiar to something SO majestic and SO mythological that you can't wait to see how it transpires.

Other iconic or memorable shots to me are:

    (1) First shot of BB8
    (2) Rey in front of the AT AT eating (although I really liked the shot of her on top of it that was never used)
    (3) Kylo's shuttle slowly flying around from behind Maz's castle
    (4) Han's death, while very sad, was very iconic

This movie really does have some outstanding shots.
