Oh, yes, Arnold's pinnacle, in my opinion.

I liked it. Thought it was infinitely more entertaining then Spielbergs War of the Worlds.

I must admit I was very disappointed. I was expecting a serious end-of-the-world action movie, and didn?t get it.

    I?m still bitter.

i was wondering. how long does it take to get from New York to Washington D.C.? because in the movie David says that the countdown will hit 0 in 6 hours. from watching the movie it looks like they get to the white house with 45min to 1/2 hour left on the countdown

    Aliens show up.

To announce their presence, they brodcast their destruction countdown.

We go to DEFCON3. (Does Hollywood EVER explain what that is?)

The aliens blow up the world, only America fights back.

We launch nukes. Aliens drink Starbucks and forget to notice the nukes.

The CIA mentions that they already know how to defeat the aliens. The president punches the CIA. His wife dies.

Aliens are defeated with a power-mac running OS 8.

The rest of the world wakes up.

    America rules.

I love this movie. Does anyone know who owns the "Surround Sound", blue 'S' production logo at the begining? I love that logo.

I think it takes 3 to 4 hours to drive from NYC to DC, of course traffic can influence that severely.

Man, I loved this movie. It may be cheesy and unrealistic, but it is very fun. As long as you don't think too deeply about it, it was a great movie with gret production and cinimatics.

I felt that visualy, Spielberg was borrowing from this movie for WotW.

I think it's kind of unfair LA was blown up instead of Chicago (it was way better and bigger buildings). I'm not even from there, and I feel it was slighted. :p

The Aliens obviously didn't think to look in the midwest for a major city :p

especially if there are flying saucers over your city, and everyone is trying to get out of th city.

could you imagine the I-95 in a situation like this ?

getting out of new york it'd be a killer but wouldn't it be easier getting into D.C. because everyone is trying to leave. in the movie i believe the when it shows them driving into D.C. there aren't that many cars on the roads going in to the city

Yeah, that's right. The streets going into Washington were practically deserted, IIRC.

That scene kind of bugged me. If the streets were THAT crowded, I'm sure there would be some daredevils using the other side of the road to get out of town, too. I can't believe it's the end of the world, and you're still obeying traffic laws?

Ah, you know I never thought of that. Why were they only using one side of the road? Even for Hurricane evacuation down in Florida, they use both sides of the road on an interstate to get people out faster.

good point. it makes you think a little[face_thinking]

also how big was the mother ship? if the ships that came into earth's atmosphere were 15 miles in diameter then the mother ship had to be really big
