They never said that Beru lived there. She probably justs visits all the time. Beru is Owen's girlfriend. I mean don't most of you spend time at your significant others' place?

In ESB Han and Leia spent alot of time together, and even though they didn't show it, I'm pretty sure they had sex.

Also, Indiana Jones has sex with women in all three films, and he's not married.

 

Well, Anakin and Padme spent alot of time together on that ship before it returned to Naboo. Two young people, free time, in love...you do the math.

On a more serious note, I would assume Beru's just there alot because of her conection to Owen, though it's quite possible she might be living there due to other circumstances (maybe her parents were some of the farmers the Tusken Raiders killed?). Through Shmi's thought process in the AOTC novel, we learn she and Cliegg already expect them to marry, so it could be just a situation where the bride-to-be stays with the family.

 

Pre-marital sex is not something you ever have to go to the bother of endorsing. It's just fine.

Also Lucas once said the Jedi aren't celibate- but marriage is a no-no.

So if anything he's anti marital sex.

 

I HATE the term girlfriend. They should have already been married! I'm not bashing ATOC or GL though. I just REALLY HATE THE TERM "GIRLFRIEND!" Actually, I only hate it when it is used to describe a relationship between adults. Owen and Beru were not in high school. In that kind of pioneer setting, I seriously think they would have gotten married as soon as possible so they could make babies to help around the farm. Of course, it would seem they never actually make babies.

I really liked the idea that she was living there because her family was dead. It didn't make sense for her to be waiting on them, unless she lived there--and it didn't make sense for her to be living there unless she was married to Owen. Oh, and did I mention I HATE THE TERM GIRLFRIEND? "This is my girlfriend, Beru." THAT IS SOOOOO FRAKING LAME!!! Where is her promise ring? Is Owen's class ring hanging around her neck? GOD, I HAVE ISSUES!!!!!!!

That is the only line in the movie that make me cringe.
