If cloning is available in EP2, why not just clone Maul??

Failure or not, any success that Maul may have had came from his training, not his genetics. A clone would have to go through that same training. It's not worth the time.

 

For those arguing that Maul should be the one being cloned, you must remember that just because someone is a clone of Maul doesn't mean they'll be 'born' with all of his knowledge and his training. It just doesn't happen. The clone would have to go through all that training too. It would be impossible for Palpatine to train millions of clones to be equals of Maul. As was stated before Palpatine's clones were the same because they were a combination of a physical clone and Palpatine's spiritual essence was transferred. This cannot be done with Maul.

 

Flash-imprinting. He'd have the skills, if not the memories.

 

Was the procedure for flash-imprinting ever explained? I would think that Palpatine would have to have a template, a copy of Maul's combat skills scanned from his mind. Getting wouldn't be quite as easy as finding a blood sample.

 

It's possible to make a computer created AI of memories,and fighting styles and use that as flash memories.

 

Instead of Maul why didn't they clone Anakin?
Obviously he needed it with all the mechanical doodads that kept him alive.

 

Cloned anakin? That happened in one of the Galaxy of fear books.

 

If they can use AI as flash memories, then there's no reason to clone Maul at all- just load the same combat skills into a stronger, faster, more intelligent being and let them fight.
