    Maybe Darth Maul was expendable?

Maybe Darth Mauls connection to the force wasn't as heightened as Vader's?

Maybe Sidious was busy getting botox?

Or maybe Maul wasn't actually in any danger until that last second before he was multiplied by two?

    Either way, good question.

He didn't care about Maul or thought Maul could look after himself. If Maul died he would be easily replaced (by Count Dooku). If Vader died then there was no replacement.

When Maul was in danger, it was unlikely that Sidious was available fly to Naboo, ignite his saber, and face Qui Gon and Obi Wan in a two-on-two Jedi-Sith showdown. He was WAY too busy pretending to be a senator/supreme chancellor! By contrast, when Vader is in trouble at the end of ROTS, Sidious has pretty much consolidated his power as sole ruler of the galaxy, so, hey, no biggie to swoop on over to Mustafar and pick up some fried chicken.

Maul was never in danger until Obi-Wan jumped up to kill him so Sidious can't sense it in a span of 2 seconds! ;)

Maul wasn't in danger until the last minute. He was in control of the battle until just before his death. Even if Sidious did sense something, though, he might not have cared. Or it might just not have been shown on screen.

I'm sure he sensed it, although like Agent Skywalker said, he wasn't in danger until the very end. I bet ol' Palps got on the first shuttle and headed for Naboo. Wait, he DID!!! The very next scene is Palpatine showing up. Coincidence??? I think not. (or it is, whatever)

i think he did sense the danger that maul was in. but like several others have said, he was only in danger for a short time, .... a VERY short time. Maul would have been have way down that shaft before palpy could have gotten to the hanger.

Maul was way gone...palps did not want to sidious did not want to show his true identity just yet...and maul was gone when he fell down the shaft...to late for sidious to save him.

Maybe Maul wasn't as emotionally connected to Sidious as Vader was?

I think classixboy got it. While Maul was in danger Sidious was busy trying to get elected as the Supreme Chancellor, he couldn't exactly stop was he was doing and tell the Senate he had to go save his secret Sith apprentice. Becoming Chancellor was more important than keeping his apprentice alive, but in ROTS Sidious controls everything and doesn't have to explain to anyone why he wants to go save Anakin.

That said, we see Palpatine arrive on Naboo at the end of TPM and thank Obi-Wan for his bravery, perhaps he was on his way there but had to orchestrate it under the guise of Palpatine instead of Sidious, and it meant he got there too slowly.
