ST If Luke is married, what 50-60 year old actress would you cast?

I really enjoyed her in the "Solaris" remake from a few years ago. So, she's done some science fiction already.

 

Another possibility is Mira Furlan, from Babylon 5 and Lost.

There are a lot of good options.
I'd want to go with an A list mature woman. Sigourney Weaver, Jodie Foster, Julianne Moore, Susan Sarandon.
I'd prefer his wife be Mara Jade. My second choice would be for his past with Mara to be acknowledged as her being dead, and Luke could have a new second wife.

Forget what happened in the pre disney EU, these are all new stories, in a new continuity.

 

Yeah, I expect that will be the case. But since I'm going with my preference, I can still say what I want. I'd accept the actresses I listed as new characters. Luke's wife not being white is an interesting possibility.

 

I can see them working in Mara Jade, they've given her a lot of Merchandise this year, and Greg Weisman teased on Twitter, that she might be in Rebels.

 

I really hope they keep mara jade in the canon - though my expectations are low...it doesn't help when you have people referring to the new films as "the star wars reboot."

To film goers, it's a continuation of the past six movies, .

It's a reboot for the tie in material, to get it to line up with the new content.

They have the option of using material from previous works, and adapting it into the new storylines,

George Lucas said in his video interviews with kathleen Kennedy, that the team working on the new movies, could use the Star Wars encyclopedia, plus they

have Pablo Hidalgo, Leland Chee, and Howard Roffman to help them find things that they already have that they can use.

 

Tilda Swinton. I would expect his wife to be more striking and domineering than naturally beautiful.

 

For old Mara how about Michelle Fairley aka Catelyn Stark/Tully from Game of Thrones?

 

Florence Henderson would be a great choice, but maybe a bit too old. So my back-up choice is Bridgette Nielsen.

 

Betty White for sure... it's too bad Bea Aurther is dead. An Ackmena/Luke Skywalker hookup would be one for the ages.

Viola Davis? Marcia Gay Harden? Huh, no. Those are great actresses with VERY strong presence. Mark's a fine talent, but I think any woman in that class of talent and screen presence would threaten to totally overshadow him.

I'd rather see someone like Davis or Harden as Jedi or involved in the government.

 

I've never seen this woman before, but wow - she's beautiful.

 

Since we've had an actual announcement and there seems to be some consensus that Luke will probably have a son, any other ideas on who may play Luke's significant other?

Why does she have to be a well known Hollywood star? How about someone along the lines of the lady who played Shmi Skywalker?

 

Why can't Luke be a widower? I've never liked the idea of Luke being married to anyone, so never married, divorced or widowed sounds good to me.

But if Luke does have a wife, why can't she be taller than him, or older than him?
