    Fixed it for you ;)

Mostly agreed. Though I personally preferr the idea of a living wife/lover/girlfriend over a dead one. Very much agree about Sigourney being way too tall... though Tom Cruise got past that by platform shoes and I hear once by making the actress walk. In a trench so she'd be shorter than he.

Well, I'll go with Lucas' statements that the characters would be in their 60's and Hamill and crew would play them if they looked old enough. Mark turned 62, so I think they are playing their ages.

    Didn't realize 5'9" was short.

Which I stated last post also.

Just saying I agreed her height is an issue which would need to be considered preproduction if she was cast. Either by letting Hamill marry a taller woman since preconceptions arent an issue to a Jedi Master or use tricks like Tom Cruise does with his leading ladies to fit the prefect ideal fantasy of men and womens heights to avoid shell shocking the audience that Luke married a women from the Amazon women's homeworld. Both points of view have pros and cons, and not everyone will agree with either choice made here... if she was cast as his wife that is.

I like Rene Russo. She's been wife to Anthony Hopkins, Mel Gibson, and had affairs with Pierce Brosnan and Clint Eastwood. I mean, come on:

I vote for Connie Nielsen, a.k.a. Lucilla from Gladiator:

She's 5'10" and 48, so neither her height nor her age would clash with Hamill's, and she would bring some impressive (or shall I say, very impressive) talents to the table, in addition to the gravitas necessary for the character. And assuming they keep elements of the Mara Jade backstory, the way she stared down Commodus in Gladiator, you'd be able to believe that she dusted herself up after the Emperor's demise at the end of ROTJ.

    Lauré :)

Let me tell you something my friend. A New Hope is a dangerous thing. A New Hope can drive a man insane.
If Mark Hamill is 5'9'', then I'm 6'3''. (And don't bother posting a link to the stat which says he's 5'9'' - I know what google says his height is but I just don't buy it)

Maybe Jenny Agutter (Walkabout, Logan's Run.) In fact, that would be a nice touch since Logan's Run was one of the last SF films released before Star Wars changed the game forever, so it would be a nice touch to have that link.

Gina McKee (Forsyte Saga remake) could be an interesting choice, too as would someone slightly younger (but not too young) like Tara Fitzgerald. Really, there are lots of high profile actresses born in the 1960s who could do the job - Nastassja Kinski is another example.

I'd say it is pretty accurate. I met him at GenCon 1995. I'm 5'10" and my brother is 5'7", and Mark was just a bit shorter than me and was definitely taller than my brother.

    *edit*
    Gina McKee isa good suggestion

I'm loving these suggestions. Slightly off topic, have we seen Mark at all since Robert Englund told us he was hitting the gym? I'm trying to picture some of these with him but I don't know what he looks like now.

Thanks! Just came to me as I rewatched Forsyte recently.

    Edit:

... Of course, if we wanted pure sex appeal, the actress I consider to be the most beautiful woman of all time, Anica Dobra, was born in 1963, making her just about right...

FWIW, this is how Anica looked in April, just before her fiftieth birthday:

Still all very photogenic for their ages, IMHO and all of them have reasonably strong acting credentials, albeit arguably not top tier.

Jodie Foster: It would be an interesting choice as she came close to getting the Princess Leia.

Madeleine Stowe: She still looks good at 55.

Holly Hunter: A Jedi Master with Elastigirl by his side.

If I had to pick an American actress, it would be someone like Glenne Headley, as she is the right age, not too well-known (her last role that most genre fans would be familiar with was in Warren Beatty's Dick Tracy film back in 1990) so she cetainly isn't high profile, she is still photogenic and quite charismatic. Here is a recent image:

Headley with darker red hair back in 2002, for those of you interested in having a redhead in the role:

LOL - I think we should just leave the idea of inter-species sex in the weird, weird world of Star Trek where it belongs. :p
