I laughed when I saw that someone has voted for him :p

I voted for Quincy Adams. He was more responsible for the good times in Madison's time than Madison.

Jackson, all though he would be torn apart by the media in today's society

    Andrew Jackson.

He was the Ron Paul of that era. He knew the evils of the central banking cartels. Same with Ron Paul and the 'Federal' Reserve.

Even though he actually wasn't a great president, he was the only president to be a senator after his term. And he was an awesome senator. He would tirelessly bring forth abolition petitions even though there was an automatic tabling rule against them.

He's been one of my heroes since I was 13 :-B

Jefferson. I think our increasing power to federal government is a huge mistake.

    Andrew Jackson. Old Hickory!

I just took a course on this time period, and this in my opinion would be the best for the country. Jackson instituted major democratic reforms, removed the deficit (last president to do so,) challenged a corrupt banking institution, remained firm on national security concerns, and was an inspiring leader.

John Q. Adams was a great Secretary of State and a great congressman...but a horrible president and a terrible politician. Jefferson was a great president and clearly was my second choice, though he made some major mistakes such as the Embargo Act (which excluded him from my first choice.) Washington was strong and decisive, but not the top choice here. The rest were rather weak.

George Washington, though I am not an American.

    Adams was a good underling.

Jefferson was notoriously poor at finance.

I'm surprised by how much love Jackson is getting in this thread, when he's not doing well at all in the historically-ranked thread. Are most of the Jackson fans just opting for Lincoln or Roosevelt?

It depends, if history was erased and they were all running and we would have no knowledge of what kind of president they would be like, I'd probably vote for Jefferson. Knowing how they would be as president, I'd probably vote for Washington.

Andrew Jackson. He had balls. John Tyler would be my next pick. Another one who stood up for himself and didn't care what people thought about him.

I can't remember who I voted for a while ago, but I'd probably go with Van Buren. He was a very bright man who did a fine job before becoming president and was waylaid by events mostly outside of his control, and I'd like to know what he could do given another crack at the job. Besides, that's one awesome mustache-beard thing!
