If you could Change one thing in the OT what would it be?

I dont want it to be small things like:

"Change Orangataun Lookin Palps in ESB"

I want it to be something that affects the Story.

I'd change the Deleted Scene in ESB to Non-Deleted. The one where 3-P0 rips the Sticker off of the Wampa Pen and the Snowtroopers rush in there and die. That would have made ESB that much greater for me.

 

I would have Leia *not* say she remembered her mother...leaving it wide open for something tragic to happen to Padme in Ep3.

 

Not suddenly introduce telekenesis in ESB (and ROTJ.) Leave the Force as a mystical entity- not a physical one.

(And if I can have 2, have Leia not be a Skywalker.)

 

Erase the new scene from the Wampas lair. Its much better not seeing who it is.

Erase Jedi Rocks.

Erase all the junk from ANH as we go into Mos Eisely.

Bring back the yub-yub song.

Take out that awful CGI Jabba thing from ANH.

Cut out "alert my star destroyer, to prepare for my arrival."

Put the original Cantina aliens backs in ANH.

I would change the ESB Emperor. It's the only major thing that I really hate about the OT.

I skip that scene every time.

Return of the Jedi.

All of it.

Except the major plot points (rescue Han, redeem Vader, confront and defeat the Emperor, and the massive Alliance v. Empire battle with the rebels victorious).

The details I'd change.

 

I agree with k-man, ROTJ is the weakest of the bunch.

I would go back to Lucas's original vision and instead of having Ewoks, have Endor populated by a bunch of mean ass-kicking Wookies. It would make their battle with the Empire more credible, imagine instead of the comedy escapades of the Ewoks if you have a group of angry Wookies ripping the limbs off stormtroopers. Also they could take part in the space battle over Endor.

Also, I would either leave Vader's mask on, or make the actor underneath so hideously scarred he would barely be recognisable as human, instead of just looking like your Grandpa Jim.

Also, delete the business about Luke and Leia being brother and sister. It's the worst bit when they have their talk on Endor and adds nothing to the story. Leave them as platonic friends.

Oh, that'd be changing more than one thing...sorry!

Apparently, that was the very reason it wasn't wookies- because Lucas wanted to to be a technologically primitive race that was intrumental to the fall of the technologically advanced Empire.

Something to do with Vietnam, I gather...

 

I would have Obi-Wan explain the entire story of the prequels to Luke

 

The one thing I would change would be it's popularity. That way I wouldn't need to waste my life on this website!

I wouldn't change anything except the visuals. The story is fine.

 

Definetly make the ewoks Wookiees.

 

The pacing on Anh could be better

 

I would have kept the director for ESB on board for ROTJ. From what I've read on how it would have been makes me deeeeeeply regret that Lucas kicked him off. It made me gnash my teeth.

 

Changes:

- Wookies instead Ewoks
- More speed in ANH lightsaber duel
- No Jedi Rocks
- No Jabba in ANH
- No "Han's shooting first"
- The Emperor's face in ESB
- More ground battles in ROTJ (maybe in Coruscant)
- Original cantina aliens: bring them back
- No Luke screaming in ESB(aka the emperor's)
- Better visual treatment for Luke & Vader duel in ROTJ

 

I would have liked to see the final battle in RotJ take place on Coruscant or some other new environment instead of the Death Star being rehashed.

 

ANH- Speed up the Obi-Vader fight

ESB-There was this scene in the novelization(I think) where Luke is training with his lightsaber on Dagobah. I think that would be a neat addition.

ROTJ-change Eowks to something else. Why do these aliens (Ewoks and Gungans) have to be so primitive? Wookies would be a good replacement. Personally I think a new race would have worked. But they should have been warriors that can possilby take out stormtroopers.

 

Bring back ALL of the sequences that were cut from ANH,including but not limited to:

1.According to a pub photo I saw in Starlog(?) one time,Luke is out on the farm,sitting on his landspeeder,wearing a desert hat and googles(draped over the hat)and holding a pair of macrobinoculars.The moisture 'vaporators are in the background.
Luke is looking up and sees a few flashes(from the SD pursuing the RBR) and looks through his macros.He then hops into his speeder and tears off for Anchor Head,nearly plowing down a 'lil 'ol lady in the process.
This all leads up to Luke finding Biggs at the "club house(?)" and on it goes from there....

 

It's fortunate I have the Behind the Magic CD, and at least have a copy of those Luke and Biggs scenes, because it's going to be a warm day on Hoth before Geo sees fit to add them on a DVD. And those scenes are mostly what I would change about the OT, because I always thought they added more of a dimension to Luke's character. And it would help bolster the added scene in the SE where he and Biggs run into each other on Yavin. It makes no sense having that scene in there if you don't have the ones at Tosche Station to provide a connexion.

(There are other changes I'd make, as in getting rid of every freakin' SE change, but I'm trying to work from the thematic perspective. )

 

Greedo SHOOTING first for crying out loud.Everything else I at least can cry myself to sleep over.

 

To be honest, nothing bothers in the OT, even the SE's I'm fine with, with one exception, as someone said earlier, the "Alert my stardestroyer" line in ESB is just SO wrong. The original line was perfect, really showed how pissed Vader was, the new line, not so much.

 

the titles are misleading.. there are no warring stars at any point in the series, so id change that
