If you were asked to author a new book...

...and Story Group approved, what would it be? You can plot out the whole story jere if you want you want to.

My novel would be about the world of Podracing post-ROTJ, and all the back dealing and gambling that goes with it. It'd be centered upon a rogue-ish chap (think Dash Rendar but less full of himself) who has made a career out of assisting clients in making bets in big podracing events. But he is tagged by some secret agents into taking down a secret criminal empire that is trying to gain control of the betting pool in order to get more money.

Think Casino Royale In Space and that's an accurate image of what I have in mind. The story would still have the usual Star Wars feel with a Big Damn Hero taking on an empire, with space battles and all, but it would be an interesting spin on those well known tropes.

 

I would have a short story would be set during the Clone Wars in a few months after the bombing of the Jedi Temple (in the gap between the Lost Missions and ROTS, which according to Hidalgo is about a year), Luminara Unduli and a new Jedi character would find out who is really responsible for a series of events being blamed on the Jedi. In other words, Barriss isn't really responsible for those events and she'll get rescued and cleared.

As to a novel, I wouldn't mind doing one following ROTJ and following Luke in his journey, working with Lor San Tekka and meeting several Force Sensitives - canon versions of Mara Jade, Kyle Katarn, Kam Solusar, Cilghal and Ken. If at all possible, I'd have him adopt Ken as his ward at the end . He'd also be accompanied by R2-D2 and a pilot who flew a B-wing at Endor and is working alongside Luke as his shuttle pilot. Tycho Celchu, Wes Janson, Wedge Antilles and Derek Klivian would make an appearance. I'd also have a side journey on Naboo when he meets the Naberries and becomes involved in the Naboo Sieges.

 

Stormtrooper squad book, maybe the SCAR Squadron from the main SW comic.

 

my story would be of a group of misfits during the warlord era, who are struggling to and working on becoming excellent fighter pilots. They would need other strengths, such as espionage, and would make an excellent commando team on the ground as well as pilots in space.

I can't help myself tho I think it's been done before...

 

I don't really have a storyline in mind, but there are a few threads I'd like to pull on.

The Noble Court of the Anoat sector and their mysterious Forceful advisers. (From SW Uprising)

I'd write something about Kylo Ren as I feel I understand the character quite well. Unfortunately I'm not sure my grammar is up to novelist standards.

 

What the heck Luke and Ben were doing during Bloodline.

 

Something like Bloodline which elaborates on exactly what the lead-up to Attack of the Clones was about, the origin of the Seperatist Crisis, the rise of Dooku etc. Filling information which should have been in the movie like Bloodline did for TFA

 

I had an idea for a Anakin/Vader story that is set both in the Clone wars and Dark Times. Anakin and Padme would be on their honeymoon on a neutral planet that unbeknownst to them is about to break out in civil war over who declare for separatists/republic.

The Vader half of the story would be him having to return to the planet at the Emperor's command, facing the decisions him and Padmé made and him working through (or not) with who he was then and now.

 

Delayed frequently and ultimately non-existent.

 

A story about the Yuuzhan Vong.
The TCW arc, their history previously, or a story set after the TCW but before the ST.

Depending on what happens by the end of Rebels in a few months, I think the first part of the story could also work if I replace Maul with one of the Mando Protectors mentioned near the beginning. Actually, having the Mando might even work out better as it could be vaguely linked to OB1 vs. Jango Fett from AotC and show how OB1 learned from that fight. Plus, it'd fit with the title better...where Kenobi fights a Mando Protector while acting as the protector of

A Bail Organa novel, covering his life story. Show him as a young man, a husband, a senator, a warrior, a rebel and as a father. So Breha, Liea, Mon Mothma, Dodonna, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka, Palpatine, Padme, Hera, Vader and Tarkin (and Garm Bel Iblis and Winter) would pop up.

I'd drop in a couple of Matt Santos lines from The West Wing because it would amuse me.

 

Star Wars: Tyranus

 

A Godfather-esque take on Rotta turning Tattooine into something like Dubai but not being able to go fully legit.

 

A timey wimey novel that would connect the previous Legends continuity and the new ST timeline (no, seriously, it'd be crazy).

 

Unfortunately, I don't think I could come up with a story that would be approved by the Story Group, because everything I would want to do would be the EU not the canon universe. I have had a few ideas, mainly stuff like Onyx Squadron at Endor, but nothing the Story Group would ever approve, because I wouldn't use canon material.

 

I would love to explore the inner workings of the Inquisitorius. I think it´s very needed and has a lot of potential...

 

This is something I would like to see happen.

 

Follow up to Lost Stars....

Thane and Cienna return home and become part of the rebuilding of their world joining a new planetary security force.

Cienna's mom gets a land settlement for her wrongful conviction and is turned into a prosperous livestock operation by the Rees.

Nash finds out Cienna survived and comes after her to kill her for treason against the Empire....and winds up getting killed by Thane

The 1st wavers on Jelucan have a serious upheaval of their concept of honor....is it really honorable to keep your world to someone who turns out to be evil?
Should the first promise be to always do what you feel is right??

Follow up to Bloodline...more about Casterfo and Carise Sindian....

Casterfo is broken out of prison just before his execution by a couple of bounty hunters in a junky freighter....tracks down the proof of this innocence and proof against Sindian for setting him up....confronts her in her office and with the assistance of Resistance sympathizers with the senate security force gets the confrontation broadcast far and wide. She stops just short of implicating the First Order and basically claims it was politically motivated because Casterfo was not shaping up to be a hardline Centrist and had to be gotten rid of.

Sindian is arrested for her crime...and thrown into a very Spartan prison...adding further insult to her after losing her royal title.

Casterfo gets elected governor of his homeworld and becomes more or a moderate....but sides with the Resistance.

 

I remember a rumor before the split saying that the Old EU was to become "The visions of Luke Skywalker". I'd like an elegant way to address it, as long as there are no crossovers whatsoever, to recognize Legends as a reality or realities that are out there if some event had gone one way or another.

 

In my seriously messed up headcanon, Allana is Rey.

 

Abeloth making it or not making it to the Father, Son, and Daughter is my divergence point. Or Tahiri's and Darth Cardus' actions in in Inferno create a timeline where Anakin Solo lives and during the Legacy comic era, Snoke goes back in time and creates the NEU.

 

If I could write anything? I'd write Padmé's story. The Phantom Menace is one of my favorite Star Wars movies and it is because of Padmé. I was fourteen when it came out in theaters, but I grew up in a very closed-off religious society, and I'd been baptized the year before which meant I was now an adult in the eyes of my congregation. This story of a fourteen year old girl who was expected to be so much more than that, who had to be so grown up, who literally had the weight of a world on her shoulders, it felt like a fairy tale written explicitly for me. But she's been left so unexplored in Star Wars literature! I would write a story for her, I would write dozens of stories for her, and the only reason I'd ask them to pay me is because I'd need the time away from work to do it right. Princess Leia is my first love, but Queen Amidala is my deepest and saddest.
