Was coming over here to post that. We didn't see Mors in the preview, but since she comes into the book later, maybe she's the Moff overseeing Ryloth?

    Well, that was reassuringly fast.

Though the conclusion of the article bugs me a little:

Very cool. I was already looking forward to this one anyway, this just adds another reason.

I think it's a forgone conclusion how I feel about this so instead of stating the obvious I'm just gonna be nitpicky and do this:

Language warning also a forgone conclusion, because Carlin.

I assume they haven't read Christie Golden before. :p

*crosses fingers for 327th time that she doesn't screw this one up*

Really glad to hear that about Lords of the Sith. Reminds me that in my headcanon Asajj and Ahsoka are both bisexual. (Asajj because I'm pretty sure her and Latts Razzi did the do after Bounty and Ahsoka because the director of Weapons Factory has said that he was shipping her and Barriss pretty hard.)

And my excitement for Lords of the Sith somehow increased again. Mors sounds like a very interesting character.

Welp, time to start a new thread demanding a second LGBTQ character.

    But seriously though.

Nothing anyone says can make me believe that Latts Razzi is straight.

Well, I imagine Mors is going to have a significant other in the book, so you should probably be starting a thread for the third LGBTQ character. :p

    That's an... interesting gif choice.

This is fantastic news. Next, an LGBT character on screen. Small or big screen, let's not be picky.

I think what Kablob's gif is supposed to illustrate is that Latts visibly checks Asajj out a couple of times in Bounty, and continues to hang around with her until a later episode with a title that escapes me when Asajj learns that Savage is about.

But, yeah, Bossk's flapping tongue does make it a rather interesting choice. :p

I'm curious to see how they swing this. It could be awesome because it's setting such an early precedent. But being the first of the new canon to pull this off means they've got to be SUPER careful not to screw it up. Like falling into a cliche -- for instance, if the only purpose this character served was to be gay and nothing else, and we're stuck with remembering her as "that gay character" forever after. She's got to have an actual personality and role.

Also they're going to have to make the choice as to whether other characters in the GFFA think she's "abnormal" or whatever. They shouldn't -- in a galaxy with a bazillion genders beyond male and female, you'd think it wouldn't matter. But the authors might decide to pull a Fatal Alliance* and have the otherwise all-straight cast think the outsider is weird.

(*in which the all-white cast thought the east Asian dude was weird)

Hear, hear. I think it's less exciting on the page than on the screen, because of obvious audience differences, It's still good, I'm just not sure how long we'll have to wait until Disney breaches that barrier.

Well, there's a reason why I said "reassuringly" fast. Compare this to the old EU - yes, it was a very different time, but introducing a gay character like 4 books into the new canon does suggest a new readiness to pursue a more diverse cast. After all, it'd be in keeping with other aspects of the new canon, such as Rebels being completely devoid of white dudes on the Ghost crew, or the very first character to appear in AND being a black woman.

And the first canonical NEU story -- which was a short story in Insider -- starts off with a female B-wing pilot. So either way, they're killing off the old missteps right out of the gate. It's great.

Kanan's not white? Eh, doesn't really matter.

I do wonder how they'll handle it. Offhanded mention that makes it clear while she is doing other important stuff would probably be the ideal. No room for argument, but not here whole person.

Kinda like how Rebels handles Kanan and Hera.

Kanan doesn't really look white to me, though he's the most open to interpretation of the crew. Sabine is clearly East Asian and Ezra is clearly Middle Eastern.
