Jedi Ben told me to read Nextwave ages ago, and it's been on my list, but I keep forgetting to get my hands on it. But that cover seals it for me.

Best Nextwave moment has to be when they have that alternative reality vision that is driving them insane, though there are just so many brilliant “WTF” moments in that series.

Team Thor, thank you. I have no time for your petty mortal squabbles.

(Hey how do Asgardians work in diversity scoring? They're technically aliens in the MCU, right?)

    Missa ab iPhona mea est.

It's like Shakespeare... but with much more punching. And it's own theme tune.

Really great little "miscellaneous diversity thoughts" post from Kieron Gillen.

I was on the latest Star Wars Day at Sea cruise and saw lots of boys dressed as Captain Phasma, which was awesome. I also saw a little boy dressed as Rey, which warmed my heart so much. My sister-in-law said the same boy was also dressed as Elsa one day. <3

Of course, there were lots of girl Reys, little Leias, and even more Princess Darth Vaders.

Princess Darth Vader sounds like everything I want in a canon villain. Imagine if Dooku was played by, like, Helen Mirren?

Yeah, I would really like to see female villain like a princess Darth Vader or a bounty hunter in a film.

Captain Phasam is really cool, but needs a larger role.

This sounds seriously cool, but I would be remiss not to complain about my pet peeve there:

On an unrelated note, I want to put out an open call here for people who are into the whole fanfiction scene to speak up, because I've been having Thoughts on the subject again that are relevant to this thread.

I read the EU for twenty years. That all turned out to be fanfiction.

So it looks like we have our first Asian main character, in Episode 8!

(Besides LGBT, that was like the last big unchecked box, I think)

(Unless she's CGI, but I have a feeling she's not)

We found out about Gwendolyne Christie in a similar announcement--I wouldn't make any assumptions about "main characters" yet.

Wouldn't one of the guys from Rogue One qualify as a main character?

If Laura Dern plays Captain Phasma's mom, and never takes off her helmet either, I will be overjoyed.

Disney XD put tonight's episode up to watch and wow.
Hera code switches. It's possible taking on her accent is meant to denote she's speaking Twi'lek, but I love the idea that she's just...code switching around other Twi'leks.

Given the rest of that conversation, my takeaway was that she made a point of losing her Ryloth accent to spite her father but falls back into it when she's immersed in it.
