Sorry, the clickbait version of this thread title should have been: "You'll never guess what Bob Barker bought for $5 million!" A crazy story of poaching and gonzo eco-activism on the high seas. Wish I had the movie rights to this one http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/28/world/a-renegade-trawler-hunted-for-10000-miles-by-vigilantes.html
Heh, I literally just got done reading that article. I was mentally casting the crew in my head. Pedro Pascal as the Thunder captain and Irrfan Khan as the captain of the Sam Simon
****ing vegans. Off the coast of Antarctica with rotting fish exploding on their deck... the PERFECT conditions for some kind of impromptu musical number... and wadda they do? They CRY. Sissies.
Sea Shepherd in the news more recently over whaling protests in Faroe Islands. These guys are rock stars. http://www.theguardian.com/environm...ale-hunt-protesters-arrested-in-faroe-islands
Hopelessly misguided: Edit - language warning, don't watch if offended by someone pointing out that whales are ******** ******* and did **** all to help us during the war.
I agree though that not having produced a top 10 record is ironclad evidence that whales are an evolutionary dead end.
Hilariously, Denmark recently banned halal and kosher slaughter because "animal rights come before religion."
I've not played the clip but is this "Whales unite, whales we will fight, we'll go on eating plankton/Whales we are nice, whales full of spice, we don't like being w*nked on"? I love Derek and Clive.
No animal has been slaughtered in Denmark without stunning in the past decade or more. And Denmark, which you may not have known, has a huge pork/ham/bacon based industry which Minister Jørgensen has also indicated needs to clean up its act. Were no attention given to non-halal meat slaughter in Denmark, you would have a reason to manufacture that outrage. Since, however, all that has happened is the story's been buried knowing full well a few words will whip people into a new-story clicking frenzy... I thought I'd probably calm it down. Denmark's put a ban on halal and kosher-compliant slaughtering for a literal physical minority for whom such meat is 100% imported. And has put the meat industry on notice about standards. This isn't the story you want it to be.
Member Since:Feb 18, 2001 Taking facetious and sarcastic comments literally is something n00bs/arlon/beeze(l/r) do. You should know better. Hint: The "le" should have told you.
So you're not concerned about how, beyond questions of humane/inhumane slaughter, food is a key cultural event in the Jewish and Islamic traditions and how the ban speaks to a wider disconnect between this sense of self on the one hand and European liberalism on the other?
No, I'm making fun of people (mainly Americans, so you should be able to relate/support) who circle**** that Scandinavia is a bastion of progressivism. You're letting your skewed perception of me color everything you read. Find a new target.
Well, given you previous stance on Europe and Islam, it wasn't a stretch Vivec. To the Europe thread!
