    Forget her...she ain't worth it.

Purists and Completists can not get along

    [face_plain]

    That's blatantly untrue. :p

JFT, send her a letter. Make the point that before you found your differences in SW you were having a great time, right? The important thing is: you both like star wars, and if the difference is just to great to handle, then I lose all my faith in the world. :p

What would happen if somehow you two had children? Would they be casual EU fans? Not Star Wars fans at all? Mini-Padme Bras? The world may never know.

    Poor JFT :(

luckally, my girlfriend knows nothing of the war. she only watches the movies and has read a few books. so i really dont have to worry. although, i bet she would get a good laugh out of this story. i would hate to have our relationship go to crap over fiction

Luckily, I've learnt how to do this in our genetics unit [face_mischief]

Capital R stands for likes movies, and lowercase r stands for likes books.

So, JFT's girl is RR (likes movies exclusively) and JFT is Rr, 'cos he likes both movies and books. So, do a punnett square cross...

    [image=http://www.boomspeed.com/darthheretic/punnett.gif]

    It's 50/50 either way ;)

Wow... I'm finding a practical use for all the useless rubbish I learnt in biology  [face_laugh]

So I take it liking movies and liking books are codominant traits? (I'm a bio major :p )

Seriously, though JFT, if she's going to get this way about a peice of fiction, imagine how she'd get over something real and important. A girl like that isn't worth your while.

isent it scary how you hate to learn that stuff but then it just comes up and you look smart for knowing it?

Look JFT, just crawl back on your knees to her front door and cry until she lets you in. then go about your lives and bring it up a little down the road when your relationship is more stable.

JFT, I have to say that is one of the stupidest reason I have ever heard for not wanting to date or even talk to you. Not that I'm the expert on the subject of dating. I can't even get my crush to notice me! Nevermind that he stares at me but doesn't have enough guts to ask me out!
My sugesstion is don't give up on her.

Did your relationship fall into a Sarlaac? Don't worry! It can use its jetpack to escape! Did it get thrown down a Death Star chasm? Fear not! It can get cloned! MULTIPLE TIMES!

Of course, the relationship will never be EXACTLY the same. This happened to me, once:

"I'm glad we got back together, Gina."

    "It's Giina."

    "Oh."

man...narundi...great to see you again...long time no see.

I will not fight over my ideas of what I said before...I can not admit I may have been wrong... [face_mischief]

Again...JFT, forget the girl...and that is coming from a North jersey boy...the best of both worlds...New York and New Jersey wrapped up into one.

I'm afraid I have to go with many others now. She isn't worth it. Perhaps if she is willing to work it out but it doesn't sound that way to me.

I'm sorry to hear about that, JFT.
But if she's unreasonable on something like Star Wars canon, she likely is unreasonable on other, more important things as well.

You like that name? That name is so stupid, I hate you!

That's horrible! You just won the award for worst purist experience ever.

If you think she's still worth it, go for it. But if she's nasty about things that are bigger, don't stick around.

EDIT: Actually, you look like you need a hug.

    *hugs JFT*

    Ahem, I believe that's my department. :p

And the award for Worst Purist Experience Ever goes to...

    Jansons_Funny_Twin!

    I'd offer you a hug, but...you know. :p

    Seriously though, my condolences. :(

And I thought it was silly that people couldn't tolerate the fact that there are other religions/lifestyles/etc. than their own. [face_plain]

I'm with you on that one, Stackpole.

This girl sounds like she needs some professional help, IMHO. If she doesn't like the EU, fine. That's a small thing. If she's so shallow that something like that would put her off dating you, then if I were you, I'd stop trying.

Just my two cents, take 'em or leave 'em.

Well, I finally got to talk to her earlier today (even purists needs food). She said that she's sorry that she blew up at me, turns out a certain feature of female biology got in the way. She just has a strong dislike for the EU. I guess I also got a lttle defensive.

I'm supposed to eat dinner with her in about 30 minutes, so I'll give you an update.

    D'oh! :(

fishi: Not accurate. You have not addressed issues of dominance or co-dominace. Also, very few traits are dictated by a single allele.

A more accurate Punett Square might have several other letters dealing with disposition and reactions, along with specified circumstances and degrees.

    :p
