I could be wrong, it's been a couple months since I read it.

Actually, what did people think of the novelization? I thought that it was paticularly strong for a novelization.

You think this film is likely to recieve a retroactive subtitle if the sequel comes forward (ala A New Hope was to Star Wars)?

Seeing as how they retroactively applied "COR" to Pitch Black and all, it would seem to kinda stand out amongst PB, EFBB & DF which would all have COR and a subtitle.

I liked the novelization, personally. Then again, I've never read a bad novelization by Alan Dean Foster (my personal favorite is the one for John Carpenter's 'The Thing').

Maybe, although I'm not sure what they'd use.

Good question. I can't really think of anything either... well actually, I can, but every subtitle I can think of ends up sounding pretty cheesy. Here's a couple:

    TCoR: The Necromongers
    TCoR: A Prophecy Fulfilled

    See what I mean?

yeah, we'd probably have to see what subtitle the sequels would get so we could get a better feel a to the direction/feel they'd go for potential subtitles.

Perhaps "Hood of the Devil", "Awakening", "Final Protocol", "The Search Begins"...

Maybe they'll just leave it the way it is...

Vin seems busy with his next two films- whatever courtroom dramam they previed during the Oscars and his pet Hannibal project.

We probably won't hear about Riddick 2 for awhile.

It had some nice camera work, expecially in the beginning.

You have oddly coincidental timing with your inquiries, JT ;)

After "Hannibal", he plans on returning to the science-fiction trilogy that he visited this past summer with "The Chronicles of Riddick." Of a potential second entry, Diesel says "Riddick? Well, you know that I've always had 'C2' planned. I'm silently -- and I shouldn't even say this -- I'm silently working on 'C2' with some of the outlines that were created when I first thought of doing the three films."

Well, we don't know yet, we just know that they're interested, and I'm hoping that they'll finish it up a bit.

For a Sci-Fi film... Riddick was really good. I haven't liked a lot of sci-fi to come out in a while, but it was really good. I enjoyed it a lot. Not as good as Pitch Black though IMO.

I thought Chronicles of Riddick was better than Pitch Black, but thats because i like sci fi adventure bette rhten sci fi horror.

frnakly i like it pg better than r. i don't mind people getting "wounded" as they did in Riddick. But i was pretty glad we didn't get a close up of that guy's mutilated face (the one who riddick hit with an Axe) or a good look at the other guy being burned up...it would draw the casusal addience away too

I think that Pitch Black was a stronger movie, probably because it wasn't written with a sequel in mind.

when i first saw pitch black i thought it was ok. After seeing it a few times i learned to really start to like it.

Riddik was a good flick. The only thing that kinda threw me off was the necromongers. I thought the costums and characters were kinda silly. My suggestion would have been to design them a bit differnt. Other than that i thought it was cool.

Anyone else have any news on sequel possibilities?

With a third film, do you think it would be a good idea to have a change in tone, mood, genre to differentiate it once again? Pitch Black was more Horror than Sci-Fi, Chronicles was Sci-Fi but featured major overtones of religion, politics and power. Should a third movie shift gears again? A Noir Thriller? Something along the veins of a Sci-Fi version of Se7en, where the badest of the bad is tasked to investigate and track down something worse -
    a galactic serial killer?

i liked the tone of Chronicles of Riddick better...

but there are still a few things that i was wondering about...

Why didn't "Eomer" kill Riddick right after he killed the Lord Marshall, if he wanted to rule for all Necromongers? Some sense of honor maybe, but I imagine his wife Lady "McBeth" would probably rant and rave about how Necromongers should be led by one...

    Where is New Mecca?

What happened to the "old" Mecca?

what happened to tha hunter guy's 5 man crew?

Did anyone feel that the Imam was killed off too early?

btw what is a Noir Thriller?

I can't remember, however, in the Riddickverse, is Earth still around? Perhaps not, perhaps the planet is a desolate wasteland, and "old" Mecca is long gone...
