JCC I'm sick of watching han solo toot

I haven't paid attention to the banner in years but I was just sitting here staring and wondering why Leia is depicted like such a ***** and why han solo is pooping so hard. Why do we still have this crap up. Is it permanently written into the code? I know grimbles refused to change it because he didn't know how to html hard enough to change it, but seriously... can we not just hold a ms paint contest or something and get a better image for up there?

 

Seriously.... I miss our custom jcc banners. Other boards here have different banners, so it's not impossible to change it.

 

Now you mention it, it does suck. I'd rather look at David's Simon.

Every time you add a new style with a new banner, this mother****** rebuilds the whole database and it crashes. Remember when the temp boards crashed every day? That was the reason. So no more rotational banners.


I'd be up for a new general banner, though. I agree this one is getting old.

 

I think it's been up forever because Joe Hogan drew it specifically for us and people were pretty proud of it. I liked it, and still do, but... it's been 5 years since he drew it, most of his friends are not around in positions of power anymore (some of them don't even care about Star Wars anymore). I'm okay with moving on. I miss the banner with all the face_plains and the one with that pink hippo from the UK children's show. In other words, something less moody would be great.

Yeah, sure. Let me check with the admin team first, to see what needs to be done (templates or whatever) and I'm okay with hosting a contest.

Star Wars TV has a second banner below the main banner. Would it be hard to rotate the second banner and leave the main one be?

No, it's incredibly straightforward, it's just done with a notice (The same sort of notice that helpfully reminds you of Talk Like A Pirate Day every September). A full-on banner change, which seems to be what people want, is a lot more involved, so we can't do it often, but I agree with JoinTheSchwarz that we're probably overdue for a change.

 

Oh, are we talking about the secondary banners? I don't see one for Community....I think I hid that ages ago.

 

I don't think we added any. We have some for certain holidays, but that's usually just me trolling the userbase.

 

Awesome! A new main banner sound good. If we get the opportunity to design secondary "notice" banners, that would be cool too.

 

This banner is the reason I took such long breaks from the JC, plus why I hardly visit now. It's an ugly Photoshop job.

IIRC, we've had this banner in one form or another since the Temp boards. I agree, it's time to change it up.
