JCC I'm thinking of changing my username

To Kate. Plain Kate. Kate. Kate. Kate.

Most people refer to me by my first name anyway. But I'm sad to think of losing the name I've had for 10 years.

So...pros/cons. Good/bad. What say you.

I'm almost 32, and I'm still going by "junior" at all my star wars forums. I wouldn't change it.

 

Keep it. I've never been a fan of people changing their names... why change what's been a part of your identity here?

Would you really want randoms calling you by your first name, though? Those who call you Kate know you well enough to call you Kate. If some random called me by my first name, it would creep me out a little.

 

Now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

harps - not really. Maybe in the beginning that would be weird, but I've used my real name so long it doesn't bother me at all. Just seems like changing it would cut out the middle man.

And help stop people from calling me KJ.

 

You should change it to Power Princess Unicorn Kate.

 

Well, if she doesn't use "Power Princess Unicorn" as her prefix to her name, then I will make it my title.

Well, the use of "Jade" as a reference to Mara Jade is so passé. I'm surprised you got so far using that (mind you, we have had Head Admins with "Darth" and "the Hutt" in their name, so taste has never been a strong point).

But that aside, how can you go changing your username? It's the name that you have become famous for, and what everyone knows you as. You go changing it now, no one will know who you are. You're back to being just a face in the crowd, and people are not going to be able to recognise you or all that you have done anymore. You will fade into obscurity and people will be wondering "do you ever think about where Katya Jade went to"? Don't do it, nothing good can come of it. No one who ever reach any heights has made it back there after doing so.

 

I say: change it.
