Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka (July 5, 1853 – June 20, 1919) was a Hungarian painter who was part of the avant-garde movement of the early twentieth century. Working mostly in Budapest, he was one of the first Hungarian painters to become known in Europe.

This is by a fellow named David Roberts done in 1982 called Grand Entrance tot he Mosque of Sultan Hassan which is indeed a real place near Cairo.

 

VadersLaMent If that's a David Roberts painting and not a in-the-style-of-David-Roberts painting, the date must be wrong because he was active in the mid-19th century. But the entrance of the Sultan Hassan mosque still looks exactly like that, even now (the neighbourhood is a bit different though)

 

Ugh. 1839. Which is odd going back to see why I posted 1982 and I see no year where I have it saved. Anyway, thanks for the correction.
