    I was on holiday over new year experiencing the beauty of Godzone,
    and I was thinking of some great locations to film Star Wars scenes. George Lucas has always been very conscious of the natural environment . . .
    Imagine a light saber duel around the mudpools at Rotorua - or a ground battle in the Southern Alps.
    I always thought the Californian forest in ROTJ looked to tame to be alien - imagine the same scenes filmed in New Zealand bush.

    Perhaps with the LOTR release, this might even be a reality. Any other suggestions . . . ?

    Some of NZ *was* actually scouted for Episode II, I believe. The old Air Force Base at Wigram in Christchurch was one location scouted (if the first line is correct).
