Too bad. Alexie's always been a deeply troubled and troubling person. I've liked a lot of his writing and he's always been pretty open about the fact that he's pretty ****** up. I'm disappointed, but not really surprised.

That said, it is pretty despicable that he focused his predation on Native women who are among the most sexually abused and violently murdered ethnic groups in the country. It's sickening and disgusting the way Native women are preyed on by non-Natives and the way in which law enforcement and societies surrounding areas of large Native populations just don't care at all. Knowing all that, Alexie seems to have made himself part of the narrative of the abuse of Native women, which is really beyond the pale.
