Now I know how Anakin must have felt during his decent to the Dark Side!

The Saturday morning shift kills our opportunity to see GL. Considering this is the first time since 1987 that he has made an appearance at this type of event, it makes it extremely tough to pass up. It's not like GL has caved into fan pressure and we be showing up at my local toy show next year.

As torn as I am however, I won't give in to the Dark Side. Instead I have decided to be foolishly optomistic (to the point that someone might think I'm hopped up on goof-balls) that something will happen during the Saturday morning shift that will make up for the loss.....and if not, I'm just going to hit on Amy Allen ; )

See you Saturday morning in the autograpah area, fellow chump and chumpettes!

I am also going to miss George Lucas as I am a guest escort on sat. morn. I am not at all happy about it. Oh well, hopefully my daughter will be able to get in to see him. Now, wish I knew who I was going to be sitting with that morning......that might make up for it some.

I'm working thru every major thing so far. Oh well, I have no doubt that I will still have the best time.

Well I am with you guys....I will be working through GL Q&A Sessions also. I can't believe that out of the 4 days it ended up being during my 4 hour shift. I was pretty sure it was going to be Saturday....but I was hoping for later in the day.......oh well....about my normal luck. See you guys there and we can all comiserate about our missing the event. :(

Figures I'd have to work during the presentation. Maybe we'll be rewarded some other way since we had to miss. I wonder though how many volunteers are going to bail so they can go to the show. It has crossed my mind, but I promised to work. I'm guest escort that morning, so maybe I'll get someone interesting.

I'm not working for Officialpix Saturday morning but may be working for gencon. I'm still waiting for my assignment. I don't know if I'll be in the line.

It would be super if the autograph hall opened at 10AM instead of 9AM. That would give the volunteers the chance to see the first set if they lined up early enough. It wouldn't guarantee them a spot but it would give them a fighting chance.

I'm not gonna see Lucas. The odds are against be being one of the approximately 1/3 of all those who go to C3 who get to see him. That is the day my son and hubby are coming and I need to spend time with them. I hope maybe I can just geta glimpse of him, though I know its doubtful

I wonder what the Associate badges have on them character-wise?

The Adobe catalog shows all the badges, albeit in a small, fuzzy way. But from that I was able to procure that the Associate badge is either Artoo, Grievous, or the Royal Guard.

It appears that Chewie is VIP, Meddon and Palpatine are Staff and Press (one or the other), and Artoo, Grievous and the Guard are Associate, Exhibitor, and...I can't remember the final type (again, one or the other...or the other).

I will be missing Lucas and Nick Gillard. Does anyone know what Rick's schedule is or is he only up with Lucas? Did I miss it somewhere? At least I will get to meet John Knoll...

I know ther have been concerns about the possibility of being "paid" duplicate sigs. I emailed Anne about it. Here's how the conversations went:

    Hi Anne.

I just wanted to bother you with one last question before next week's festivities. I don't know if you'll even be able to answer this or not, but here goes: Since we're being paid in random autographs, is
there any way to be sure we won't get duplicates? I was just curious.

    Craig

We'll arrange them so that you won't get duplicates.

I feel exactly the same way. I'm a guest escort Saturday morning, too. But I promised to work, and so I won't back out on that. But I'm really sorry I'm going to miss his presentation. At least I'm hoping that those of my friends from L.A. that are going will tell me all about it :(.

I'm so happy! I lucked out big time. My schedule allowed me to attend both George & Hayden panels!

I'm currently jumping for joy, cause I managed to arranged my 4 shifts so that I could attend both costume shows and the above-mentioned ones. I'm a happy camper. Though, it's possible that I'll miss the other shows...aka One Man, SW30, etc...though I would like to see those too...but those I can accept missing as long as my favorites are not. :)

I'm really sorry that you guys will be missing out too...but consider that not everyone will be able to attend his panel either.... I'm going to have to be up before the dawn to even get in....

BTW, I was never scheduled for either shifts that coincided with the two panels. I had to manipulate the shifts that clashed with the costume shows, otherwise I would be in the same position too.

I just read through this whole thread and didn't see if the meeting on Wednesday evening was a go or not? I will be getting in at around 6pm on Wednesday, but I definitely want to get my badge exchanged and get my t-shirt/nametag before it closes down at 8pm.

It would be a good idea to see some of the people we will be working with beforehand.

    Here is my schedule:
    Sat 12pm - 4pm - Guest Escort
    Sun 8:30am - 12:30pm - Cashier
    Sun 12pm - 4pm - Floor Manager

Looks like I get to help close up shop on Sunday afternoon, maybe we can grab some of the leftover pictures and stuff?!

I lucked out on the GL timing, probably, since I put all of the mornings low on my priority list except for Sunday!

Looking forward to meeting and working with all of you next week!

I was wondering who to get a hold of to see if they still need volunteers. I never recieved my email asking if I wanted too and I had signed up for it long ago. Thanks.

Send an email to Anne Neumann volunteer@officialpix.com

I think they were still looking for people to do crowd control. I'd be willing to bet they'd be able to find an opening you might fit.

I got pwned the other day, the guest they had me assigned to (I didn't ask who) is bringing along their assistant and so I'm doing crowd control on Friday and Sunday and no guest escorting. But I'll still have the experience AND the Associate badge, so it's not all that bad.

Has anyone who's working the 3:30 - 8:30 shift on Thursday asked Anne about opening ceremonies and if we'll be able to go? I'd really like to, but realize that the line for the OC is probably going to be full by 7:00 or so.

I just got home and wanted to send out a huge THANK YOU to all the Official Pix/Autograph Hall volunteers.

I've heard plenty of horror stories about the Gen Con volunteers, but we had lots of compliments about the autograph hall in general and how helpful out volunteers were, both from con attendees and the actors. A fair number of you put in over 16 hours during the con, and many offered to stay to work extra shifts when we had no-shows or we needed extra help.

I know many of you asked about volunteering again with Official Pix, so I'm guessing you had a good time. :D

    Thanks again!

    :)

I know I had fun volunteering for my 2 shifts. Getting to sit with Michael Sheardly was a real treat, such a cool guy!

And the Official Pix people that I dealt with were all very nice. A great experience!

And the perks from the Volunteer badges weren't bad either. ;)
