Summary: Luke tries to write about his Dad, gets interrupted by his little brother, goes through Ben?s journals, and learns more than he will ever know about his hero.

I once wrote in this journal that I could write for hours about my Dad and here it goes!

My Dad was born some Fifty-Some odd-Years ago on Kertios (MAN HE?S OLD!) to Wilhelm (a merchant) and Serah (a music teacher) Kenobi. He has an older brother Wilhelm (my Uncle Wil) who?s five years older than he (HE?S REALLY OLD!).

Wait just one moment please!

BENJI, DAD TOLD YOU ONCE BEFORE NEVER TO INTERUPT ME WHEN I?M WRITING IN MY JOURNAL! IT?S PERSONAL, YOU LITTLE FREAK!

Now my little brother is running away and crying ?I?M GONNA TELL DAD YOU CALLED ME A FREAK, LUKE!?

OH FORCE, I?M IN TROUBLE NOW!

Benji comes back with the man he was named after. And boy does my dad look peeved!

?Why did you call you brother a freak?? Dad sighs

?Ah?Dad I called him a LITTLE freak.?

This does not amuse him.
?DON?T CARE HOW YOU PHRASED IT, YOUNG MAN! YOU ARE NOT TO CALL YOUR BROTHER NAMES!

I always know I?m REALLY in trouble when he calls me Young Man.

I feel like telling him, ?You never really had to grow up with a little brother, so you don?t know what I?m going through!?

?Apologize this INSTANT, Young Man!? he snaps.

I look at my brother and mutter ?Sorry Benji.?

Benji throws himself on my bed and screams ?I LOVE YOU LUKE!?

Dad leaves after Benji and I make-up.

His curiosity turns to my Journal. ?Whatcha writing about??

My answer is simple ?Dad.?

I just look at him ?Would you mind leaving I want to write.?

He just smiles ?O.K.!?

Then he leaves.

WHY DIDN?T I DO THAT BEFORE! IT WAS SO SIMPLE!

Okay back to Dad.

Benji?s back and he?s carrying some books.

?I thought you left.?

He has the smile on again. ?These might help.?

He puts some black leather-bound books on my bed. They?re Dad?s old journals, when he was a boy.

I skim though them and read. Benji is reading over my shoulder, but I don?t mind.

The handwriting is neat and proper?just like Dad.


Today I turn thirteen years of age and as a gift my Master gave me a ROCK. Also he gave me a Journal. He thought that it would be a good idea for me to write my thoughts and ideas in a journal.

HE?S NUTS! A JOURNAL IS A DIARY FOR BOYS!

Boy doesn?t that sound familiar!

We turn another few pages to find this.


I have left the Jedi. I know this is what I must do. I will help my Cerasi bring peace to her homeworld.


Whoa Dad! Who?s this Cerasi?

Benji and I are intrigued and read more.


We kissed like there was no tomorrow and swore that we would be together forever.


I wonder what happened to this girl? Why is she not our mom and Mom is?


Benji shows me this passage.


My beloved is dead. A sniper shot her and she died in my arms. We kissed and swore that we would live together forever, but forever never came. She drew her last breath and just DIED.

We go to a slightly newer book and find this.


I?m in LOVE! I have met the girl I will marry, father children upon, and be my companion for the rest of my life!

Benji and I are intrigued. Who?s the mystery girl, Dad?


Her name is Padme?, she is chief handmaiden to Queen Amidala.


Benji looks at me and says. ?Like that was a big shock.?

I nod and keep reading.


I thought after Cerasi that I could never love and here I am falling for a girl I barely know.

Leia comes in. ?What are you two nerf herders doing??

I just look at her and say. ?Reading Dad?s old Journals for inspiration.

She pushes Benji and me.
?Here let me see!?

She picks up one and starts to read out loud.
?Padme? and I do want more children, but with the war going on and Anakin watching every move Padme

 

He looks at us.
?My greatest accomplishments are right here. They are you.? He points to Qui. ?You.? He points to Leia. ?You.? He points and winks at me, his favorite. ?And finally you.? He points to Benji.

?All of you children are my greatest accomplishments and I?m honored to be your Father.?
Tears start to form in his eyes.

Leia looks at him as tears start to form in her eyes.
?And we are honored to be your children, Daddy.?

For once in her life Leia is right. I?m PROUD to be the offspring of such a WONDERFUL MAn!


Those were my favorite lines because they brought tears to my eyes. It also reminds me that life is too short and we should say things like this more often to our parents and children.


I also love the whole story. I could just picture the kids sitting there reading those journals and saying gross to all those sexy stuff. You described the scene very well.
