I love seeing what happens to quotes given to the press. This one was fairly close. Most of them don't even resemble what I originally said or they are taken completly out of context.

 

Coming from a reporting background, I have to tell you that some of it is how reporters are trained. My instructor in college wouldn't let us use tape recorders on interviews. Since editors are always wanting quotes to spice up a story, the reporter has to depend on his ability to scribble notes fast enough to catch them. Needless to say, quotes sometimes get mangled, especially by people like me who don't write really fast. Now taking it out of context, I won't defend--that's just plain bad reporting.

 

I was interviewed by the big three today. Channel 14 made me look like a genius. Channel 7 like a total 'tard.
