Not sure who linked those pics from that German site but I just noticed BB8 riding shotgun instead of an R2 unit in the new X-wing.

    AWESOME.

where have we seen traditional x-wings? the only t-65 we've seen is crashed in the desert. all the others are new t-70s. in the film i mean.

Yeah, I think they're T-70s in the actual film.

Yeah, that picture squashed a few rumors at once:
    • BB-8 seems to be Poe's droid (Poe flies a silver X-Wing in the trailer, but can be seen in the black one in stills)
    • T-70's do have space for Astromech droids

And that those ball-shaped droids can fit into an X-wing astromech slot.

Actually, doesn't BB8 being Poe's droid back up the MSW info again? No one else put that out anywhere did they?

Yep, I think the droid builders said something about universal astromech ports on the fighters, so they could use BB-8 or standard astromechs--I love that some of the fighters will have R6 heads!

Unfortunately, there are no new leaks in the Star Wars: Card Trader app announced today.

Lurknomore posted a link to a SW7 scoop but I know there was some comments about SW7 not linking properly to news that had already been up on MSW. Can't remember the dates on this one. Anyone else?

I don't which X-wing model I like better. I do know I like the TFA pilots' uniforms better, which I didn't think would have been possible. Hats off to Michael Kaplan (iirc) and his team. Great work.

    Pros for the 70:
The nose appears slightly more streamlined, making it less phallic
The way the wings split is cool. Not better, but different in a good way.

    Pros for the 65:
The overall shape of the wing. I like it better with the leading edge being perpandicular to the body. It gives the the wings and cannon a more swept-forward, agressive look, and feels a little more organic.

Same (X Wings. They're all great to me.) And thanks for posting the costume designer information. What little I can see, I like the new uniforms better too.

Nice design detail on that full-size T-70 -- looks like there's some type of diffuser or filter at the engine inlet. So we don't need to explain how a turbine or some other type of rotating machinery would work when the wings split.

Not so sure I likebhow the S-foils open on the T-70. The craft looks a little flimsy. Lightweight and faster.. but flimsy.

Theoretically Superman can look like a skinny beanpole of a guy, since all his power comes from the sun. He might look flimsy like that, but it doesn't mean he is--still has Kryptonian strength and all that. An X-wing with skinnier S-foils doesn't mean it's actually flimsy, either.

True. I do like the look of the engines though which remind me of the original concept art. For some reason the T-65 just looks more aggressive.

    Hi there,

I created this account to say this discussion, with 3D renders and photos will help me a lot in the crafting of my flying radio-controlled Xwing :)
Some may know me for my previous works on various Star Wars RC models (Millennium Falcon, Tie Interceptor, Imp. Star Destroyer, etc), can see all this on my Youtube channel, including the very first flight of the X-wing prototype only few days ago.
Note that only the structure is done for now, first plan was to make the old X-wing type with symetrical wings, but afterall I'll make it a T-70, it looks better, and thanks to this thread I think I have all I need, thanks again !

Good Luck with those. I love those RC models. Saw someone make one of Enterprise-D, it was pretty awesome.

I haven't had the chance to read Kaplan's interview in Vanity Fair, but is the gist that he and his people have with a completely new look for all costumes, bar the similarities with the stormtrooper armour (which itself is a lot different anyway).
