John Williams says he'll be home in California to begin work on Indy 4 at the start of October.

I'm wondering if the score might be more understated than the previous trilogy, depending on the nature and plot of the new film.

What are your thoughts on this upcoming project? Any particular hopes?

The official release date is May 22.

 

I am very excited for it...

K, so from what my buddy at Paramount's telling me, the movie will be set around July 1947 and has to do with Russia. The only event I could find that has any importance at that time was the rise of Communism. So no more Nazi theme, but I do think that if JW decides to have a "Communism Theme" or even simply a "Russia theme," it might go along the same vein at the original Indy's Nazi music.

(This is of course dependent on whether or not he's being mean and lying to me. )

Looking forward to if Indy Jr. has his own theme music. Maybe a deviation of Indy's theme?

Marion is back, so I'm expecting the love theme from Raiders to somehow be incorporated back into the score, but perhaps matured? (yay symbolism).

 

An extra has apparently broken his nondisclosure agreement and revealed some details of the plot to reporters. I haven't read said details, but since anything goes in this thread, we may all want to vacate it soon.

 

I think I'm a dork for reading "anything goes" in your post and immediately thinking of Temple of Doom.

 

I think I read that report. It definitely wasn't major spoilers. In fact, it seemed like all he was talking about was a plot rehash of the first film.

While I will not actively seek spoilers for Indy IV, I'm not nearly as concerned about personally being spoiled as I was for ROTS. Though, as a mod, I did get moderately spoiled for ROTS.

Actually the film is set in 1957. According to the fans in New Haven, Conn. who toured the streets with the fake store fronts, newspaper and magazine props were dated around October, 1957. I think the film is set around the time the Russians launched Sputnik.

I have a lot of high hopes for it. It'll be hard to top the previous ones but I have faith in JW.

 

The sets on the Sony lot were pretty creepy looking; so I'm hoping the score reflects that.

I had an awfully witty response of 'Anything Goes' translated into Russian, but apparently the boards don't like Cyrillic script. Who woulda thought?

 

Ugg, I was on the Sony lot a few weeks AFTER they had torn everything down.

 

Ha Ha, that would be awesome. I would go for that, and have the back up dancers be dressed in furs or something.
