LEGO Whips Out A New License
Posted by D_Martin on May 30, 2007 at 07:19 PM CST:
During Celebration IV, one of the guys at LEGO wasn't being mindful of the crowds, or more precisely the two ears of said crowd, when he let it slip that they will be producing toys for Lucasfilm's upcoming Indiana Jones IV feature film. While details are a bit sketchy, it is safe to assume that these will be shown later this year. Hats off to trusted CTR friend Nick for the heads up.

I hope this turns out to be true. I've been wanting Indy Legos for a long time.

Meh. If you ask me, they should just revive Johnny Thunder; he's pretty much an Indy clone already.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I can see them released Indiana Jones 4 on DVD and a Lego Indy videogame on the same day. Lucas has done it before with Star Wars.

That would be pretty awesome, to play through Raiders, Doom and Crusade ala Lego Star Wars. But the game LEGO are developing first is LEGO Batman. I was looking forwards to it, but now that someone's suggested it, LEGO Indy would be waaay better.

I forgot about the Lego Batman videgame. Maybe they can do Indy after that.

Yeah. I'm not sure when LEGO Batman is meant to be released but you can tell just from the turnaround of LEGO SWII that it doesn't take ages to make these games. They're all basically the same, just with slightly different characters and levels. I think if LEGO worked hard then we could certainly see a LEGO Indiana Jones in time for the DVD release of Indy IV.

Hopefully that's an indication of more toy licenses to come... I'd love to see Hasbro (Or someone) give the old Kenner "Adventures of Indiana Jones" line the VOTC treatment with vintage-like card backs!

I always assumed an IJ license was in the works when the Johnny Thunder line quietly faded away after the Orient Expedition sets, and given the great relationship between LEGO & the Star Wars license.

Here's a thread of my IJ custom minifigs (one batch on first page, a 2nd batch on last page)

    http://www.fbtbforums.net/viewtopic.php?t=11686

A lot of classic Adventurers sets (Egypt & Amazon) may get a reworking for the IJ theme.

Can't wait, though the wallet's looking sligty worride.

I remember you posting those before. They look great and Lego wouldn't have to sculpt a lot of new peices to make them work either. I seem to recall that the Steven Speilberg mini figure from the Lego Movie Maker set was reissued in the Lego Studio line in a set where he was directing Johnny Thunder.

Yeah, just give us a decent fedora sculpt for Indy's (and Toht & Belloch's) hat! And a new whip. And maybe a better hat for Henry Snr. ;)

Here's a list of LEGO sets featuring the Spielberg minifig. No Johnny Thunder one I can see, but quite a few different 'on set' collections.

You're right. I got my Speilberg mini fig from another Lego Studio set. It was Speilberg directing a stuntman. The Johnny Thunder Lego Studio set was different. Thanks for the link. The set I have is Stunt Man Catapult and the Johnny Thunder set was Temple of Gloom.

I would love to see this come to be. I'm a huge fan of the Star Wars LEGO series. An Indy LEGO game would be awfully fun, too.

    Oh, goody, goody, goody.

Between Star Wars and Adventurers LEGO has proven they can do this justice.

Interesting, and not at all unexpected news from Badger on Fineclonier.com

And Gobi, any chance you could rename this thread to Confirmed: Indiana Jones LEGO

"legos" makes my skin crawl. ;)

    How come?

Is "LEGOs" better? Or "Confirmed: Indiana Jones LEGO Sets"

This "Confirmed: Indiana Jones LEGO Sets" would be fine.
