So I guess dolphins are under maritime law now?

 

I had this thought. I have a female friend who lives in India and women really are still treated very, very poorly.

 

Does this mean we're going to get horrific dolphin on human fanfic?

 

To hear people talk on other sites I visit, there apparently already are.

 

As opposed to... close to every other country on the planet?

 

I am going to murder everything.

Well, sure, but most other countries aren't giving dolphins human rights. It's just kind of weird that they care so much about dolphins, but oppress women. The oppression of women isn't news,, but the oppression of women w/special exaltation of dolphins is a new twist.

 

What makes you think the people in the Ministry of Environment and Forests have anything to do with rape cases, or that they necessarily agree with the sloppy handling by local jurisdictions? A country can't advance on one social issue without advancing on all of them? They have to follow some arbitrary hierarchy? First, achieve equality of the sexes, and only then can they give rights to cetaceans?

Come to think of it, why does the Department of Health and Human Services care so much about giving Americans healthcare when we're blowing up thousands of people in Afghanistan?! First we must end warfare. Only then can we think of giving out healthcare.

 

Geez, point taken. I just thought it was a funny dichotomy. I wasn't trying to lay out India's roadmap to a better tomorrow or anything.

Dolphins already rape each other and possibly humans on their own without any kind of sanctioning as a legal person.
