I will watch it. I will enjoy it. Not sold on it being something I will love as opposed to merely enjoy though.

TPM was the one free pass they got. It looks fine, but it's not enough for me to get excited about.

And it does my heart glad to see you, and Jello, and Nick super excited about it - don't get me wrong. :)

Just goes with the territory of being a black-hearted cynic. (And getting burned too often)

I've become more cynical as I've gotten older, but somehow I'm not cynical with this at all. I need it.

Frankly, I'm more afraid of getting burned by the fandom then by the movie.

Same here. "Hey what's wrong with the forum now... Oh, a new trailer."
It works again now that many are asleep.

Does this mean that when the movie comes out I won't have access to this place for days and I would have to make my own opinion about it? The horror.

Edit: But I spent the time I couldn't get here binge-reading the end of A Storm of Swords and WHAT IS HAPPENING OH DEAR AARGH.

Importing some thoughts from Twitter. Looks way too grim and gritty, far more than it should. It might just be the trailer, but I doubt it. I love Batman. I love Superman. And I love the two of them together, because they play off each other so well. Batman is the ultimate pessimist, and Superman is the ultimate optimist. They're counterparts, two side of the same coin, one the ultimate physical and mental specimen of humanity, the other the ultimate moral one.

Nothing about BvS looks optimistic. Nothing about it looks humorous or even fun. It's like one of the Nolan films, just without Nolan. There's no, "It's Batman and Superman in the same movie!", it's straight to, "They're totally enemies, you guys! See, they're going to fight!" They looked at Marvel, went "Well, can't beat them at their own game," and did such a hard 180 in the other direction that they left most of their tires on the road.

I'm going to wait for the reviews on this one, I think. It might wind up being a rental.

Very well said. I feel exactly the same way. It needs some good balance, optimism, and hope. I might be able to stomach it as a one shot movie, but definitely not a whole movie universe. I am sure they will have little jokes here and there, but I am almost expecting a narrator to say "'in the grim dark future there is only war". Just hope the TV universe keeps going strong and they get back to making some more good cartoons again.

Thing is, it really isn't. It's more a disappointment than a surprise.
Well, Arrow is fast going the same direction as the movie-verse, grim and dark and full of character soliloquies. Flash is more optimistic, but it's also not very good. Both shows suffer from the showrunners trying to spin off as many characters and properties into their own shows as possible without giving time to the stories that actually matter. It's like Iron Man 2 spread out over a whole season of TV.

That's is true, DC needs to stay away from the Batmanization of all of its characters.
