As has been seen for quite some time now, Del Rey/Lucasbooks has been listed as a completely different animal as Del Rey, holder of the Star Wars novel license.

Evidently, there's more to the arrangement than a mere "Pay-to-Play" licensing arrangement as seen by the original Del Rey Star Wars licensed novels (SotME, HSA, LCA) or the Bantam Star Wars licensed novels.

It seems that this new entity, "Del Rey/LucasBooks" is some sort of joint-venture.

Anyone know more about the finer details of the Del Rey licensing arrangement with Lucas Licensing and why it is "Del Rey/LucasBooks" who's in charge of the books under Del Rey's Star Wars publishing program instead of just simply "Del Rey?"

    Some examples:
    DEL REY/LUCASBOOKS
Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Force Heretic I: Remnant

    DEL REY/LUCAS BOOKS
Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Destiny's Way (Oct., $25.95) by Walter Jon Williams. A weapon to annihilate the Yuuzhan Vong may be terribly misused.

Dark Horse Star Wars comics also have the symbol of "LucasBooks" on their cover. But Dark Horse/LucasBooks aren't a joint venture as well, at least I don't think they are... ?[face_plain]
