Endor is also a place in Mesopotamia mentioned in the Bible.

    Reel 2 Dialogue 2 = R2D2

This is not true. They just came up with a letter/number combination that sounded good. They discussed this myth in the annotated screenplays.

I thought Hoth was a play on words. Taken from the word "hot", for a snow planet.

Yoda, I thought was from the word "Yoga".

Fosh-bantus, how about the possibility of the name Palpatine being inspired by Palatine Hill in Rome? Given that the Empire may just have been inspired by the Roman Empire?

I don't know how to spell it exactly, but Tatooine is obviously inspired by 'Tathuine', the location where they shot it in Tunesia.

Hoth isn't a play off of 'hot' for a cold planet as Hoth was originally the name for the planet now known as Bespin. Actually, it was ____ Hoth (I forget exactly what), but they dropped the first part and changed what planet it named.

    Nerd alert!
We all know about the oldies(Skywalker=Norse god, etc.). Everything in Padme's name is Buddhist or Tibetan. Chants, lake, Amidabuddha.
Sebulba= native Meso-American level of Hell; Dooku=Japanese for "poison";Obi-Wan and Yoda are both Japanese;Palpatine is Roman; Lama Su is an Egyptian statuary guard against evil; Corascant is a gemstone; Boba and Jango are Thai, for bad "stuff"...I forget more than I can remember. Having an Artist/historian for a Mom comes in real handy in times like these! A lot of the imagery is borrowed, of course. We all know Amidala's makeup was Mongolian, but

    ***SPOILER*** (sort of)

The new Queen makeup is from Toltec imagery; it symbolized rebirth after death. It was originally the painted face of the sacrificed worn over the priest's own face.

"Yoda" is derived from Hebrew: it means, "I know."
