Although there were still many aspects that were flawed, the ability for a coach to challenge a disputed call has definitely improved the game of football. The current rules allow a coach to challenge two plays throughout the course of a game. He is awarded a third if the first two challenges are successful.

I have to say, it's pretty incredible that the NFL has been involved with instant replay for 25 years now and MLB is only now in its third year, with extremely limited use. This seems to be pretty much entirely because of slippery slope arguments from purists; "If you allow it for safe/out, then what next?! Strikes and balls?!" No, nobody is proposing that. It's an objective fact whether someone is safe or out. If Joe Bob at home can know whether Derek Jeter was really safe or out at second base three seconds after it happened, why can't the guys who get paid six figures to make the call know it as well?
