It was actually more like 10 days.

 

except they started filming there May 13 and finished Jun 1, so it's actually more like 20 days .

 

Poe Dameron allegedly flies one down to Tatooine to pick up the lightsaber...

Day one of principal photography was May 16th. Filming ended around May 27th because the actors went to the Live Star Trek orchestra show in London on the 29th.

 

even then that would be 12 days not 10.

who are you going to believe on when the movie started filming? A random newspaper or JJ freaking Abrams?

 

if you count including the 16th then it is 12 (do it by hand) and not 27-16=11.

Awesome find "Entourage". This story tells me more than a "million rumours" and speculation, its a nice behind the scenes look actually. Which we have not had too much of. Obviously.

 

Harrison was not in Anu. With his fame, he would be spotted.

 

And of course they used the same type of camera equipped helicopter for the Skellig shoot and presumably Greenham Common as well?

 

10 days, 20 days, it doesn't matter. Ford having done filming there does not mean that he needed to be there for all of it.

 

maybe Ford only had interior shots for the Abu Dhabi scenes. that would explain why he wasn't there.

 

Certainly you all should take a look at the Liwa location in Google Earth, it's breathtaking.
