Great interview Ce and FelsGoddess! =D=

True. Probably the hardest, and sadly the most frequently used lesson I've received since joining the boards.

Thanks to the wonderful Jade_Eyes for interviewing Hazel. [:D]

It is wonderful to be able to interview the prolific and talented L/M specialist, Hazel. Can you begin by telling us a bit about yourself?

Okay! I'm Portuguese and I was born in Lisbon, the year 'SW - A New Hope' came out. I'm an only child of divorced parents. I moved south when I was fourteen and have stayed until now.
I work for a local City Hall, in the Geographic Information System Division.
I love stories in all formats ? tv, movies, books; and I've always had way too much imagination.

    **

I love books too & classic TV. What draws you to the SW fandom in particular?

At first, it was Luke Skywalker and the whole Force thing. Then, once I became acquainted with the EU, Mara jumped up at me and sort of became my role-model, demanding extra time with Luke in my head. They will not leave me alone. I love them as a couple, with all the sparks flying around.
Another thing that lures me to SW fandom is the great amount of gaps in the stories ? my brain insists on filling them.

    **

Ah, those wonderful gaps, that fanfics fill so beautifully. How did you find TFN, and what sparked you to write fanfics?

I think I'll have to answer these in the opposite order so they make sense.
Ever since I can remember, I've made up stories to complement the ones I watched/read, I just didn't write them or knew there was a name for it. In fact, since no one else I knew did this, I thought I was pretty much alone. Eventually I began writing a few originals and showing them to family.
Then about four years ago, I was involved with another fandom and was looking for books on it, then came across FanFiction sites ? HOORAY, I'm no longer alone. I did a couple of vignettes for that fandom and posted them on their official site. They did well.
Then about two years ago, I got back on the SW fandom wagon and was searching for stories to fill in the many gaps (I wasn't into AUs then) and found TFN. I lurked for a while and the writing bug returned, so I joined and started writing again.

    **

What makes Luke/Mara your fave pairing to read/write? What is your next favorite?

I can't really explain it, I see a lot of myself in Mara, although it's probably wishful thinking, and I love Luke. They are so connected, so in love, so perfect for each other, and even when they're not together there's this chemistry between them that is undeniable. They're my favorite couple of all, in any fandom. Plus they seem to have taken up residence in the creative part of my brain.
Another of my favorite pairs is Corran/Mirax, although I've only written them in a few scenes, in a larger story (Whispers of the Force), I love reading them. And another paring I love in fanfiction (not so much in canon) is, Jaina/Jag. I've written them some lovely scenes too. And then, of course, there's Han/Leia ? they only get better with time.

    **

Yes, I agree on L/M being stellarly connected, and J/J being awesome in fanfiction--their love is given a chance to be what it deserves.

What do you find the easiest, and also the hardest, kind of story/scene to write, and why?

I guess the mush/fluff is the easiest to write, and the action sequences the hardest so I tend to simplify them.

    **

I know what you mean! LOL Of the stories you've written so far, which is your favorite, and your least? Is there one you would write differently now?

My favorite so far is Whispers of the Force, because I dreamed and planned it for so long and it was my first attempt at fix-its, and I can't really pick a least favorite. I love them all. I wouldn't change anything about them yet. I might feel differently about them in a year or two, but right now, they're still pretty recent.

    **

Fix-it stories are the best. Let's start with "Whispers of the Force." What sorts of things did you want to bring to the readers with that story?

I wanted it to be a 'valid' alternative to canon. Something that, without dismissing canon all together,

Thank you, Jade_Eyes, for interviewing JediMara! =D=

I am honored and thrilled to interview the marvy JediMara77. Can you tell us a bit about yourself, first?

Well as some of you already know my real name is Nanci and I live just outside of Orlando, Florida, the land of the tourists. I work at a utility company doing very boring-sounding work, but I enjoy my job and it gives me a chance to write and edit for a living (just not fanfiction, unfortunately). Besides the other obvious interests, I love space (I wanted to be an astronaut when I was a kid), history (I have a master's degree in the subject), playing with my two crazy dogs (one of whom is named Mara), going to theme parks (I do live in Orlando after all), and traveling.

    **

Oh, history is one of my avid reading passions, as well. What drew you to SW, to fanfics, reading, and writing?

How long do you have? ;)

First came reading. I've loved to read for as long as I can remember. I started with young reader series such as the Baby-Sitters Club and Sweet Valley (can you tell in which decade I grew up?), then moved on to Christopher Pike young adult novels, then discovered his adult fiction (The Season of Passage is still one of my favorite books), then the Expanded Universe.

I always loved to write, whether it was creative writing or reports for school. My teachers always praised my imagination while I was in school. Looking back on the stories I wrote, it's a wonder they didn't call the school psychologist on me! I was also one of the weird kids who didn't mind writing reports. That came in handy when I decided to get my master's degree in history, and I had to write a 100+ page thesis.

I first saw Star Wars in the summer of 1992, when my father discovered I had never seen the movies. I don't remember how the conversation came up or why we were talking about it, but he decided that I had to see the trilogy. I was into those kinds of movies and the same stuff my dad liked, so I said sure, why not. We rented the original Star Wars and popped in the film. I knew the basic story just because of paying attention to pop culture, so every time a new male character came on screen, I asked my dad "Is that Luke Skywalker?" He kept saying no. Then, finally, they got to Tatooine and I said "Is THAT Luke Skywalker?" He said yes, I said, "Wow, he's cute," and I think my dad facepalmed. And the rest is history. ;)

Funny story - the VHS tape broke in the middle of the trash compactor scene. I was so depressed! But of course, I eventually saw the rest of the movie and taped ESB and RotJ when they were on TV later that summer.

As is the case whenever I discover something new, I became obsessed pretty quickly. My dad had a copy of Heir to the Empire, which had just come out the year before, and I "borrowed" it. Once I finished, I went out and bought Dark Force Rising, then was so depressed when I had to wait almost a year to find out how it all ended! I even bought the horrid Jedi Prince series because I wanted more EU books! After The Last Command came out, I was so depressed because I thought there weren't going to be anymore books.

Yeah, just like Obi-Wan, I was wrong. I kept up with the books until I got to high school, when homework and after-school activities kept me from reading as much as I'd have liked. (I didn't even get to read the Hand of Thrawn duology when it was released!) But then the summer after freshman year of college I had foot surgery and was laid up all summer, so I caught up on almost every single EU book out there, and managed to keep up with the New Jedi Order series (which was only in its first year) all throughout college.

I didn't discover fanfiction until I was around 17 or 18 and we got the internet at home. I read a few stories, but didn't get really interested as I didn't even have enough time to read the official EU back then. I wrote a few fanfics in high school, then a few after RotS came out, but I only really got into fanfic last summer after attending Celebration V and reignit
